Gayle King Tells Fans ‘Don’t Tell Me What The Hell I’m Thinking’

Gayle King recently shared the news with viewers that she’s about to make a trip in space. However, not all fans have been receptive to the idea. Since then, King herself has responded to the critics with a few choice words.
Gayle King Will Join Five Other Women For A Journey In Space
Over the years, King has made a name for herself with CBS, serving as a co-host for CBS Mornings. However, news has come out that King is set to take part in a project that will take her out of this world.
CBS Mornings revealed that she would take part in the Blue Origin New Shepard mission a few weeks prior. The flight will notably host six women. King will join up with author and philanthropist Lauren Sanchez, pop star Katy Perry, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
Since then, King has admitted to being scared about the trip, but she wants to be brave and push through. As noted by Monsters & Critics, King has also been subject to fan comments criticizing her involvement with the trip. Much of this criticism had been tied to billionaire Jeff Bezos’s role as a Blue Origin co-founder.
However, during a recent clip of CBS Mornings, King herself has responded to these critics. As revealed on the show, the trip will take King 62 miles above the Earth’s surface. The date was also given as Monday, April 14 at 9:30 AM.
Talking about the trip, King shared, “Listen, I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m very nervous, but also very excited. And I only ask people, when you see me on the street, please don’t tell me, ‘Not to go.’ Please don’t tell me, ‘What the hell am I thinking?'”
The CBS Mornings Co-Host Asked People To Be More Positive In Their Comments
King then called for more positive affirmations. As she continued, “I just want people to cheer me on and be happy for me. Because I really am excited. People are really messing with my head. So, I’d really appreciate good wishes and good thoughts at this particular time. I’m nervous enough.”
That said, King commented on having people close to her who’ve given her their support. This included her children, Kirby and Will This also included her best friend, media personality Oprah Winfrey.
Notably, all three will be there to send King off and cheer her on at the launch site in West Texas on April 14. For her part, King also shared she will be starting to own countdown to the big event on April 1st.
During the conversation on CBS Mornings, King also cited a celebrity inspiration that encouraged her. “William Shatner had a big impact on me when he came back so I’m really just excited to see what it’s going to be like.” Back in 2021, the Star Trek actor had flown into space aboard the Blue Origin NS-18.
