‘CBS Mornings’ Gayle King Shares Terror For Upcoming Event
Journalist Gayle King recently shared she was going to be part of an all-women space trip. Since then, King has shared some concerns about the upcoming journey. However, she also touched on something, or someone, that is helping her get through it.
Gayle King’s Space Trip Was Previously Announced By CBS Mornings
Over the years, King has had quite the career, being a CBS Mornings co-host, an editor-at-large for Oprah Daily, and the host of her own SiriusXM radio show. It’s recently been announced the King will add space travel to her resume.
CBS had previously announced the news of King’s trip on its Instagram page. At the time, King was quoted as saying, “I’m so afraid, but I’m also so excited.”

According to the post, King was “about to blast off as part of the crew for Blue Origin’s next flight to the boundary of space. The historic flight, comprised of all women, is expected to launch this spring.”
Many prominent figures were also said to be joining King on the trip. According to the post, this included “pop superstar Katy Perry, journalist and philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.”
In a recent interview, King noted she already got to meet some of her teammates on the trip. The journalist even recently shared a notable story concerning one of the other teammates, while sharing her own feelings about the trip.
King Described One Of Her Teammates On The Mission As Her ‘Support Human’
Recently, King was interviewed during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight. While there, Denny Directo mentioned that Perry was also there.
Upon hearing this, King noted, “Is Katy here? Oh, good. Cause Katy is my support human.”

Directo then asked if Perry was the one who convinced King to go through with the trip. King mused, “No, it’s just that she is so ready. I’m really terrified. They are not.” Directo reassured her fears were reasonable, saying, “I’d be terrified.”
King continued, “But she is my support human. And I say this because when we were talking about it, I had a million questions. And she said, you know, may I respectfully, she said, can I just say something?”
“Can I just interrupt you for a second? Our trip to space is going to be shorter than this freaking phone call.”

According to Blue Origin’s website, Lauren Sánchez was the one to bring the mission together. As it shared in a statement, “Sánchez is honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth, empower them to share their own stories, and create lasting impact that will inspire generations to come.”
