News has come out concerning the passing of a fan-favorite Jeopardy! contestant. Notably, the contestant had appeared on a holiday episode of the game show. Fans and loved ones have also shared their condolences amid the release of the news.

The Jeopardy! Contestant Had Appeared On An Episode Airing Valentine’s Day

The contestant was identified as an executive assistant from Lakeland, Florida. They had appeared on an episode airing on Valentine’s Day, February 14, back in 2023.

Notably, the contestant did not win the game during their appearance. However, they still proved to make an impression on fans with their gameplay and knowledge and still became a fan favorite.

According to The U.S. Sun, the contestant, Laurin Bell, was said to be 41 years old at the time of her death. Her date of death was reported as March 23, 2025.

According to the publication, a local Florida Medical Examiner’s Office shared that Bell’s death had been ruled a suicide. A spokesperson had shared, “An autopsy has been performed, and toxicology testing is underway.” However, it was shared that not much further details were known at this time.

Taking to social media, a friend of Bell’s shared the news on Facebook, “It is with a heavy heart that we have to let everyone know Laurin Bell decided to end her life last night.”

The friend continued, “She was a brilliant, funny, and beautiful soul. Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers as they process this loss.”

The friend also noted, “She had a dog that was taken to the pound, if anyone is willing to take her in please let me know. She is 14 years old and not good with other dogs, but is friendly with everyone and cats. She’s a great companion and needs love.”
