Katy Perry Was A Judge On American Idol For Many Years
With the new season of American Idol underway, viewers noticed the big change that took place in recent scenes, with Carrie Underwood officially filling the chair left behind by Katy Perry when the pop star decided to leave the program and no longer be one of the judges.
Katy Perry was a judge on the reality singing competition for many years, and she was an integral part of the relaunch of the program. While many people are now excited that Carrie Underwood is her official replacement, many others were sad when she first announced that she would be leaving the show to pursue other projects.
Speaking about her departure from the show after seven seasons as a judge, Katy Perry previously spoke to Jimmy Kimmel about it, saying: “I mean I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat.”
What Is Katy Perry Doing In 2025?
With the new season of American Idol underway, many viewers are curious about Katy Perry and what she has been up to since she left the reality singing competition, especially now that we are well into 2025. It turns out, Katy left so that she could focus on new music.
For celebs who have their own careers, and their own things that they want to work on, signing up to be a judge on something like American Idol or The Voice is a huge commitment to make, and as a result, it often takes time away from other things that these celeb judges would rather be doing.
Katy Perry eventually released new music in 2024, including music videos and more. So, she has certainly stayed busy working on her own career since leaving American Idol as a judge.
Former American Idol Judge Katy Perry Will Hit The Road
When you release a new album and new music videos, the next logical step is to announce a major tour in order to help promote that new album and the rest of the new music. In Katy Perry’s case, she did just that. It turns out, Katy Perry recently announced The Lifetimes Tour.
It’s an upcoming tour that kicks off with its first show in Mexico City in April of 2025. From there, Perry will make her way through North America, with several US dates, as well as stops in Canada. If that were not enough, the “Dark Horse” singer even has several stops in Australia as well.

From there, Perry will also make stops in Argentina, Brazil, and several different countries in Europe as well. This major world tour will end with a final show on November 11, 2025, in Madrid.
