Gypsy Rose Gives Menendez Brothers Shocking Advice
In recent years, there has been speculation over the Menendez brothers gaining their freedom. The brothers had famously been convicted of killing their parents back in 1989, with claims of the brothers acting out of self-defense. Recently, another figure who has had a similar story, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, has shared some advice for the brothers if they do become free men.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Story Was The Basis Of The Act
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, also stylized as Gypsy-Rose, first rose to prominence after she was convicted of the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. At the time, media had revealed that Gypsy’s mother had forced her to pretend to have various physical and mental disabilities for years.
Gypsy was paroled after eight years. With the story gaining widespread attention in the media, Gypsy’s story inspired the Hulu series, The Act. In 2024, Lifetime premiered the reality series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.

According to TMZ, Gypsy appeared at LAX this past Monday. At the time, she shared some advice she would like to give the Menendez Brothers, Erik and Lyle, should they become free.
The brothers were convicted of killing their parents back in 1989. Over the years, they claimed they acted in self-defense following years of abuse.
Since then, the brothers’ story has also been presented in various dramatizations and documentaries. Notably, back in 2024, Netflix released the documentary film, The Menendez Brothers.
Thanks to this, Hollywood could still have interest in sharing more of the brothers’ story. That said, Gypsy felt, should the two be freed, it would be best for them to take time to adjust to the outside world.
One Figure Claims It Could Be A While Before The Menendez Brothers Gain Their Freedom
Gypsy noted she had some regrets about how she quickly dove headfirst into the media following her release. As she noted, Hollywood will always be there should the brothers take their time and a television show could always happen. She also shared she would tune in.
Meanwhile, the brothers have also appeared on the “2 Angry Men” podcast. At the time, they touched on what they would do upon being freed.

At the time, Lyle noted, “It’s a very new concept for us. This idea of hope for freedom. We mostly just focus on the day, on the present, on what we can do to sort of feel good about that day.”
According to the CNN, however, new L.A. County D.A. Nathan Hochman also weighed in on the case. In particular, he did not believe the claims of abuse mitigated the murder.
As Hochman noted, “Sexual abuse is abhorrent, and we will prosecute sexual abuse in any form it comes. But sexual abuse in this situation, while it may have been a motivation for Erik and Lyle to do what they did, does not constitute self-defense.” TMZ also noted that a hearing for the brothers’ resentencing is scheduled for next month.
Notably, as previously reported, Gypsy previously talked about the brothers last year. At the time, she shared similar sentiments, also sharing that the two should seek therapy.
Speaking with In Touch Weekly, Gypsy shared, “It’s very difficult to come out to a world that has changed so much even in the time that I spent [in prison] … I would say take your time, you know, adjust properly. And get therapy because you need it in this kind of world [and] day and age.”
