Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant Shut Down, Called A ‘Kitchen Nightmare’

In one of the most ironic situations in reality TV history, Gordon Ramsay became the focus of his own kitchen nightmare. In his reality TV show, Ramsay goes to struggling restaurants and delivers his own brand of harsh criticism to help the owners try to fix their problems. However, in real life, Gordon just had to shut down one of his restaurants because of many problems he pointed out in other people’s businesses.

Here is what happened and why it looks bad for the celebrity chef.

Gordon Ramsay Has To Shut Down His Restaurant

In Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay goes to restaurants struggling with business and tries to help them. He is often ruthless. He tells the owners things they don’t want to hear. However, in the end, he is just trying to help these owners make their restaurants profitable and successful.

Gordon might have wanted to visit one of his own restaurants. The celebrity chef just had to shut down the Kensington St. location of his UK chain Street Burger. According to reports, Ramsay rebranded the storefront as Burger & Lobster and blocked out the windows for renovations (via Daily Mail).

This comes after the Ramsay-owned restaurant faced an overwhelming number of complaints. The Tripadvisor score only stood at 3.5 stars, which is very low for something with Ramsay’s name attached to it. Some of the complaints claimed there was “Bad taste bad service bad size bad price bad everything.”

This was not a one-time review either. Many people agreed with the sentiment. The complaints included high prices for “basic burgers” with “tiny portions.” Another wrote that they felt “unwelcome” by the staff.

Customer Complaints Ravage Gordon Ramsay Restaurant

While the Gordon Ramsay restaurant was shut down, the reviews live on for anyone to see. It will be hard for the new restaurant to make up for the poor reviews of the one that stood there before.

Here is a sample of some of the reviews for the now-closed restaurant.

  • “Had to wait over an hour for the food, it was cold when we finally got the food. Not very busy but took ages for the service.”
  • “I’ve never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed indifferent and even irritated to be serving us.”
  • “Gordon, you need to get down there and sort this restaurant out! What’s hard about running a burger joint?”
  • “Food very disappointing. Very average and pricey.”

Are you surprised that a restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsay would shut down after receiving such poor reviews from customers? Do you think he can get things turned around? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
