‘Price Is Right’ Model Reveals Getting Fired After Huge Accident Left Her Scarred

A former Price is Right model has shared a story about her time on the game show. However, her experience was less than happy. She suffered an accident on the show, and then the show fired her a decade later. According to the former model, she said she was scarred after the experience.
Here is what the model said about what happened concerning her accident and later, when the show fired her without an explanation.
Former Price Is Right Model Explains Accident On Set
Janice Pennington, 82, was one of the original Barker’s Beauties during Bob Barker’s tenure on The Price is Right. She was a model on the show from 1972 until 2000. However, in the middle of her time on the show, she suffered from a terrible accident on the set.
In 1988, Janice was working on The Price is Right when a terrible accident occurred. A camera knocked her off the stage, and she fell into Contestant’s Row. The fall knocked her unconscious, and she ended up being taken to the hospital. The show continued after a 45-minute delay.
The accident happened when the cameraman swung his camera in the wrong direction. Janice ended up needing two surgeries after the fall. This resulted in one of her shoulders becoming shorter than the other. She finally returned to the show in November, five months after the accident, and she made a full recovery.
The fall also left her with scars. The game show then wouldn’t allow her to wear swimsuits because of the scars. Janice eventually sued CBS and won $1.3 million in a jury trial based on her injuries.

However, things got worse for her in October 2000. After working on The Price is Right for 29 years with Bob Barker, the game show fired her. She said that, despite almost three decades of working together, Bob Barker refused to speak to her again after her dismissal.
However, for his part, Barker said he was told not to be involved by his bosses. Pennington had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the network after a lawsuit settlement. Barker said, “On the very day Janice signed the agreement I left a message on her answering machine and told her that I wanted to explain why I had not called even sooner. And she has not returned my call.”
Barker also denied Janice was fired. He said she just didn’t have her contract renewed.

I always had a crush on Janice in the early 80s. Went to the show a couple times just to see her. For as great a host as Barker was, he seemed like a douche when the cameras we’re off and treated those girls poorly. They were as much stars of the show as he was. The accident was unfortunate, but not giving Janice her flowers after not renewing her contract was heinous. And don’t tell me Drew Carey couldn’t have gotten some serious cred for inviting her back for a show and honoring her. From the time she started in 72 to the end, she seemed to get lovelier. It’s a travesty they didn’t do right by her.
