Bindi Irwin, daughter of Steve Irwin has lived a life in the spotlight. She followed in her father’s path as a wildlife conservationist and advocate. She shared her struggles in an interview recently, which is a rarity for Irwin. Sharing that life in the limelight is not always what it is made out to be.

Recently Bindi Irwin was interviewed in the podcast A Life of Greatness. During the podcast, Bindi shared her struggles with Sarah Grynberg. She shared her trials and tribulations with her health and the importance of advocating for women’s health.

Irwin’s Unspoken Struggles

Irwin shared on the podcast that for over a decade she has been battling debilitating health issues. She only shared them with her close family including her mum, Terri, her brother Robert, and her husband Chandler. These health issues went undiagnosed for 10 years. Because of these health issues, Bindi Irwin was forced to leave parts of her life in the dust, making her feel isolated and alone. She was forced to cancel work commitments. Bindi said, “Behind closed doors, I was struggling to do anything and everything.” She went on to say that she felt this caused people’s view of her to change, saying “People must have thought I was incredibly flaky.”

Bindi Irwin Finally Gets Answers

After years of being gaslit by doctors that her debilitating pain was just part of womanhood, Irwin finally found answers. Bindi Irwin was diagnosed with endometriosis. They diagnosed her with over 30 lesions, some so bad, they had caused her ovary to adhere to her side. They treated Bindi with surgery here in the U.S. Irwin said, “Endometriosis is an enormous problem for so many people, and it’s not talked about enough. I went 10 years undiagnosed because doctors didn’t know enough.”

Bindi Irwin gives credit to the birth of her daughter for continuing to drive her to the answers she so desperately longed for. She said that she was not able to be the mother she wanted to be because of her pain and sickness.
