Recently, on social media, fans have commented that they feel the show is great for those dealing with memory issues.
Fans Still Discuss Alaskan Bush People Even Years After Its Original Run
The original Alaskan Bush People series lasted from 2014 to 2022 on Discovery Channel. Viewers tuned in to see the Brown family as they tried to live off the grid in Alaska.
Despite it being nearly a decade since the original series ended, the show still has its devoted fans, in addition to people discovering the show every day. Many fans find ways to enjoy the series in other ways. Some follow members of the Brown family on social media, while others talk about the show on forums.
Over the years, fans find all sorts of reasons to appreciate the show. On Reddit, one fan noted, “This show is great for anyone with memory issues.”
As the fan continued, “I’m only at the end of the second season and looking forward to the rest. But the amount of recaps and explanations of who everyone is in each episode is nearly comical.”
Fans Have Noticed The Recaps For Years Now
Taking to the comments, many fans seemed to share the fan’s sentiment. One fan, for example, noted lines that seemed to be repeated on the show.
First, the fan wrote, “We’ve really got to step it up. That’s what the bush is all about” Second, they shared, “The family really has to come together for this one. That’s what the bush is all about.”

The reliance on recaps has often been pointed out by fans. On another Reddit posts, one fan wrote, “Just started the show on season 3 now. But good lord each episode is like 20 minutes of recaps and 10 minutes of actual new footage? Love the show no knocking it but does anyone else feel this way lol?” This caused one fan to mention, “You could easily condense each 40 minute episode to 20 minutes.”
As fans continued their discussion on the more recent post, many jokingly suspected the series’ use of recaps could have been a cost-cutting measure, pointing out other similar methods seen on the show. Some of these comments included:
- “It’s like 85 percent of the show.”
- “I can’t work out if discovery is saving my episode progress or not. I keep thinking I’ve already watched an episode before.”
- “The intro is so long as well, or at least it feels it, haha”
- “As a binge watcher this drove me up the wall”
- “Yeah it’s annoying. At the end of season 3 and the beginning of season 4 (where i am at the moment) there’s about 3-4 episodes of recaps and ‘unseen’ footage which includes just extended stuff of scenes we’ve seen before. Then each episode has numerous clips within it reminding us of things that we literally just watched minutes ago.”
