The CBS series Fire Country will be airing this week as scheduled this week. Because of the recent historic LA fires where thousands of people like Cameron Mathison lost their homes in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena, the national news stories revealed that convicts were helping the fire fighters battle the blazes.

Suddenly, there was a spotlight on the Max Thieriot-created series. Although CBS chose not to air the series in the midst of the worst of the fires, it is returning.

What Is Fire Country About?

The tragic Los Angeles wildfires has put a spotlight on an unusual firefighting program in California. Moreover, there is a series that was created by Seal Team alum Max Thieriot called Fire Country.

Back in 2022, Thieriot spoke to Variety about how this CBS series came to be. It was when he was on Seal Team that he began to pen the series that had been brewing in his head. The native Northern Californian knew about this program and created “a drama that follows a young convict who joins a prison release firefighting program to help with wildfires. When Bode Donovan is assigned to work in his hometown, things become more complicated.”

Of course, Thieriot left Seal Team to play Bode and to executive produce this hit series. This was something that was brewing in his head because of his own life experiences.

Because of growing up up in Northern California, it was normal, everyday life for me, seeing conservation camp crews work alongside the highway and on the fire lines driving around. Then I realized folks that aren’t from up there, specifically, didn’t really know this was a thing a few years ago.

Although this was an instant hit for CBS, there were plenty of people who were unaware of this special program. Now, everyone is talking about Thieriot’s series.

In addition to the Seal Team star, Billy Burke, of Twilight fame, portrays Vince, Numbers alum Diane Farr portrays Sharon, Lucifer star Kevin Alejandro portrays Manny, and Stephanie Arcila, plays Gabriela.
