Former General Hospital actor Ingo Rademacher seeks a new trial against ABC over his firing from the soap. The star reportedly filed a new motion this past Thursday, December 26, in the ongoing case. Notably, Rademacher’s former costar Steve Burton had also been previously dragged into the ongoing legal battle.

Ingo Rademacher Recently Filed A New Motion To Reopen The Case

Rademacher first joined the cast of General Hospital in 1996 as Jasper “Jax” Jacks. He notably appeared on-and-off as the character well into 2021, until he was let go from the series.

In the soap world, Rademacher also notably appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful as Thorne Forrester from 2017 to 2019. He also competed on the sixteenth season on Dancing with the Stars, ultimately coming in fifth place.

According to In Touch, Rademacher has recently sought to reopen a lawsuit against ABC concerning his dismissal from General Hospital. As noted by Us Weekly, a new motion was filed as recently as December 26.

The publication claimed that Rademacher claimed in court documents that there was new evidence that the judge should review.

As noted by Us Weekly, Rademacher and Burton were both fired from General Hospital over their refusal to comply with a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. A month following his exit from the soap, Rademacher announced plans to take legal action against ABC.

ABC Defeated The Suit Back In 2023, But Rademacher Hopes To Appeal

At the time, as noted by In Touch, the suit accused “the defendants of religious discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and violation of his right to privacy.” However, ABC denied these allegations, citing health reasons.

For his part, Burton did not pursue legal action. After briefly appearing on Days of Our Lives, it was announced Burton would be returning to General Hospital as his character, Jason Morgan.

ABC defeated the suit back in June 2023. However, he has since tried to appeal the decision, in part because of Burton’s rehiring.

At the time, The Hollywood Reporter shared a statement from Rademacher’s lawyer. As they noted, “ABC’s re-hiring of Mr. Burton undermines its argument that Ingo’s political beliefs did not play any role in its decision to fire him—to ‘recast’ his role—in 2021.”

“Judge Goorvitch credited ABC’s evidence that the political animus that the General Hospital producers showed toward Ingo was irrelevant because, like other people, including GH actor Steve Burton, it simply could not accommodate Ingo’s objection to COVID-19 vaccination and fired him only for that reason. That argument was always specious. But it carries even less weight now, given the newly discovered evidence that ABC re-hired [Steve] for General Hospital but did not re-hire Ingo.”

According to In Touch, Ingo shared, “The evidence of [Steve’s] rehiring, but not Ingo’s, should change the court’s summary judgment ruling. It confirms that, contrary to ABC’s argument, it was not judge Ingo’s vaccination status that mattered. It was him: his political beliefs and his political commentary. That is why, unlike [Steve], ABC will never re-hire him for [General Hospital].” At this time, ABC has not responded to the motion.
