The Reason Taylor Kinney Was Missing On ‘Chicago Fire’
Chicago Fire fans live in a constant state of fear that the beloved Taylor Kinney will one day leave the show. He took time off in the past for personal reasons, and fans hated not having Kelly Severide on the TV screen every week. Those memories came back on the last episode when Kelly was once again absent, making many fans start to feat the worst.
Here is what we know about why Taylor was not on Chicago Fire and what is happening next for his character of Kelly Severide.
Why Was Taylor Kinney Not On Chicago Fire?
Fans seem to always be worried that Taylor Kinney plans to leave Chicago Fire. These worries really started to rise earlier this season when Kelly began to have issues with his brother Jack Damon. No one knew that Jack and Kelly were brothers, and new fire chief Dom Pascal made it clear he doesn’t want relatives in the same station.
With Kelly hiding the relationship from Dom, it looked like he was setting himself up for trouble. If he gets fired or transferred, this means that Taylor Kinney would be leaving the hit show. With so many long-time cast members leaving in recent years, fans are waiting for this shoe to drop.
However, there is some good news. Kelly was not on the recent episode for story reasons. Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) said that “Severide’s got some fire inspection boondoggle in Michigan.” Stella then said that Kelly was doing good in Michigan but he was heading back home early. He should be back on the next episode.
That will happen in the big One Chicago crossover, which Taylor was seen filming.
Chicago Fire Changing Times In January Return
Chicago Fire will also change times when it comes to that big One Chicago crossover event. The three shows return to CBS on January 8 and they will keep airing in their regular timeslots, with Fire airing at 9/8c. However, during the crossover event, it will change things up.
This year’s crossover will take place on January 29. The synopsis for the three shows reads: “When a gas explosion rocks a high-rise, Chicago’s first responders come out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians. It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own.”
When it comes to the crossovers, they air in the order of the story. Since the story starts on Chicago Fire, that show has to air first and will move to 8/7c – one hour earlier than usual. Chicago Med follows with Chicago P.D. wrapping things up.
