‘Chicago Fire’ Offers First-Look At New Fire Chief
There is a new fire chief coming to Chicago Fire this season. Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden stepped down as the chief in the season finale last season. He will move up to the Deputy Commissioner position. While plenty of fan favorites are at the station, the show is bringing in someone new to lead the team.
He is also a very familiar face, and the first Chicago Fire preview has shown the first look of the new chief. Here is what you need to know.
Chicago Fire Offers First Look At Dermot Mulroney
Dermot Mulroney has joined the Chicago Fire cast. The veteran actor will play Chief Dom Pascal, a regular cast member and the station’s new head honcho. According to the synopsis, he is from Chicago but left to build his skills in another state before returning to replace Bolden.
Pascal clarified in the small teaser that “There’s going to be changes around the firehouse.” It also seems that not everyone, including Severide, is fully on board with the new chief. He mentions in the teaser, “There’s something about the new chief that’s a little off.”
While Mulroney is joining the cast, other cast members are leaving. Kara Killmer’s paramedic Sylvie Brett left Chicago after marrying Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) in Episode 6. Alberto Rosende left in the Season 12 premiere when firefighter Blake Gallo moved to be closer to family.
Most fans know Mulroney from his movie career. He starred in My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Family Stone, and The Wedding Date. He also appeared on TV shows like Hanna, Shameless, Secret Invasion, and Station 19
When Does Chicago Fire Return?
There were concerns that Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med could be delayed from their planned starts. There were thoughts that the Presidential debates could force a delay. However, with the presidential debate not being a danger, it is almost certain that the shows will hit their release dates.

Chicago Fire Season 13 is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 25, at 9/8c on NBC. Chicago Med will premiere the same night before Fire. Chicago P.D. premieres right after the Fire. If the vice president debate schedules itself for that night, the premieres might end up being delayed a week.
“It is a new era in lots of ways, though the core family is still together and will need each other to manage the twists and turns ahead,” showrunner Andrea Newman said.
