‘Chicago Fire’ Changing Its Schedule After Winter Break

Chicago Fire aired its midseason finale before the winter break on November 8. After the finales, the Chicago shows are on hiatus, and there will be nothing left to see from them until January 2025. However, when the shows return in January, their schedule will change.

Here is a look at what you can expect when the Chicago shows return in January and the schedule changes.

Chicago Fire On Hiatus, When Will It Return?

The Chicago shows ended their first half of the new season on November 20. This means there will be no new episodes until January. However, the good news is that it won’t be the end of the month, and new episodes of the shows will start on January 8.

When the shows return, they will remain in the same scheduled spots until January 29, when the schedule will change one night. Chicago Fire will still air at 9/8c on Wednesday nights, but fans will want to watch the schedule for an episode that switches time slots with one of the other Chicago shows.

This is the night of the One Chicago crossover event. The synopsis for the three shows reads: “When a gas explosion rocks a high-rise, Chicago’s first responders come out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians. It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own” (via Variety).

Chicago Fire Changing Schedule For Second Half Of Season

When the Chicago shows return in January, there will be a change. This change will come on the January 29 One Chicago crossover episodes. These crossover episodes have a linear story that runs throughout the episode, which means each show leads into the next.

This means if the events on Chicago Fire happen and those lead to what the officers of Chicago PD have to do, then Fire has to air first. This is regardless of when the shows are scheduled normally. The network knows this, and since all three shows air on the same nights, they can switch spots, which will happen on January 29.

That night, Chicago Fire will air on 8/7c, an hour before its normal schedule. Chicago Med will air next, followed by Chicago PD. This makes it sound like a fire will cause some serious injuries, and the doctors of Med will deal with the victims. The officers on PD will then likely deal with who caused the fire and finish the case after the three-hour affair.
