Tamera Mowry’s ‘Scouting For Christmas’ Shows Life’s Imperfection
Scouting for Christmas starring Tamera Mowry will showcase life’s imperfection. Mowry’s role will explore her taking on a mother’s situation and how with motherhood, “best” is “enough.”
Getting Into The Holiday Spirit With Tamera Mowry
As an American actress, television personality, and former singer, Tamera Mowry has been in the business for a while and has worn many hats. She is best known for the reality TV series she did with her sister, Tia & Tamera, and their debut in the sitcom Sister, Sister.
In addition to having multiple Hallmark films and shows, she is also known for the movies Twitches and Twitches Too, which she also did with her sister Tia and followed a similar trail as her debut with separated sisters. In both storylines, they coincidentally meet at the mall. She was also a host on the talk show, The Real.
Furthermore, Tamera knows a thing or two about being a mom. After marrying Adam Housley in 2011, she has two kids, Aden and Ariah. Like any mom, she knows there will be days harder than others and obstacles she can’t see coming. Thus, she is seemingly confident in her motherhood performance for Scouting For Christmas.
Scouting For Christmas Shares Truths About Motherhood Rather Than Hiding Behind A Facade
In Scouting For Christmas, Tamera takes on the role of Angela. Angela is a single mom who has difficulties finding a balance in her life. She has a career in real estate, but also has to get her 10-year-old daughter to all her activities such as Sunny Scouts.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Tamera Mowry shared that with motherhood, “There are some days you got it and you’re like, ‘Wow, I am Supermom.’ Then there are days where it just doesn’t work out because life is not perfect. You just have to embrace, pivot, love, and get through.”
Furthermore, when specifically discussing Angela, the star says, “She never gives up. You have the moms who are able to be there every waking moment of their child’s life, and that’s wonderful. There’s also working moms trying to make ends meet and live out our dreams. Everyone has different avenues, and you have to do what’s right for you and your family. But as long as you are doing your best, you are doing enough.”
In addition, she shares that Angela, “lets them know that, ‘Hey, I’m doing my best. I love my child and we got this.’ Because quantity and quality are two different things. There are families that spend lots of time, but they’re not really spending that quality time. Like, are you present? Are you really there?’ That’s what’s important.”
Moreover, Angela faces a judgemental mom from the Sunny Scouts troop but doesn’t let her get to her. Mowry seems to have also faced this battle saying, “I have experienced that, and when I was acting, I was thinking of a mom who’s like that. I call them ‘momsters,’ moms that believe that their way is the only way. What I love about this film is it shows that that’s not true. I wanted to give that beautiful example for us working moms that it’s okay. The balance is never truly perfect.”
Additionally, Tamera reveals that the film showcases “what a modern family looks like.” Furthermore, she states, “It’s about a mom doing anything and everything just to make sure her daughter has the best life after a divorce. It’s about the love that she has for this girl, and that is her main priority.”
Brooklyn, Tamera’s daughter tries to give her mother some romance with her favorite bakery’s owner. Angela does what her daughter wants because “Even though Angela has gone through this heartache, she opens herself up, possibly, to a new romance.”
Moreover, Mowry disclosed, “I personally have always wanted to be a Girl Scout. I’ve always wanted to say, ‘Scout’s honor.’ I’ve always wanted to wear the little sash and the cute little beret. So at least I got to play a mom to a child who is.”
Though it seems the holidays are coming early this year, encroaching into October, Tamera explains, that she knows it’s early, “But in my heart, I’m here. Hallmark and Mariah Carey, they really have a way of putting you into the Christmas spirit.”
Scouting for Christmas premiered on the Hallmark Channel last night, Sunday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. However, fans can watch it on Peacock, Sling TV, Philo, or fuboTV.
