The arrival of fall also brings in the new television season. Viewers have noted that Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU have premiered new episodes in early in October. However, Law & Order: Organized Crime was absent, leading to speculation that the series had been canceled.

Another Show Has Taken The Series’ NBC Time Slot

Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered on NBC in early April, 2021, serving as the seventh series in the Law & Order franchise. Christopher Meloni reprised his role as Elliot Stabler as he returns to the New York Police Department after the murder of his wife.

The series has aired its past four seasons on NBC. Its most recent season premiered earlier this year, on January 18, 2024. However, its time slot has since been given to Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Found, which is returning for its second season. Thanks to this, as previously reported, fans are starting to worry that the series’ fourth season would be its last.

After all, the fourth season only had 13 episodes, while the previous two seasons each had 22 episodes. That said, it was still more than the 8 episodes that made up the first season. The cut number had also been attributed to the writer’s strike at the time.

The Series Have Moved To Streaming

While the series did not return to NBC for its fifth season, the series has not been canceled. It simply moved from NBC to the Peacock streaming service.

However, fans of the show already had a reason to believe the series would be alright. According to TV Line, back in May, NBCUniversal Entertainment President of Program Planning Strategy Jeff Bader assured the show was doing well.

As Bader said in a statement, “Organized Crime is a VERY successful show; this isn’t a show that was on the bubble.” At the time, he also suggested that streaming would likely work wonders for the show. As he put it, “It’s a show that works across the board, and it’s very, very strong on streaming. [Moving Season 5 to Peacock] is a win-win for us — 80% of its viewing isn’t in the time period where we schedule it, it’s delayed on Peacock, so it just made sense to move that to free up the time period.”

That said, while the series is getting a fifth season, the season won’t be a long one. According to Soaps, the season is only expected to have 10 episodes, even less than the previous season.

At this time, the exact date when new episodes of the series will be made available is unknown. That said, a Peacock TV blog previously confirmed that the new episodes will come out at some point in 2025.

  1. I think it sucks that they moved organize Crime to streaming .NBC is wrong on that move , the show that plays in it’s time slot I really dislike doesn’t come close to Elliot Stabler. How can you juice up the fans and leave us on pause to an unfinished season so unfair.NBC you have to bring organize crime back it’s just right with the rest of the Law and Order Thursday’s.

  2. Been watching L/O O C since it came on. How is that going to work with Benson and Stabler being on different channels, NBC and Streaming? There’s no way it can do a crossover event. Unless you’ve figured out some kind of magic!

  3. I think you should bring back law and order organize crime back to NBC people can’t afford streaming like me first you did to days of our lives and now law and order organize crime have mercy on us
