Why did Jennifer Aniston just deal with a home-swatting experience? The former Friends actress dealt with an early morning police raid of her Los Angeles home on September 25, 2024. But, why exactly did that happen to her at such a random time? Here’s what fans of the iconic superstar should know about the terrifying situation.

Jennifer Aniston’s Home Was Swatted Because Of A Prankster

According to TMZ, Jennifer was asleep in her Bel Air home when police officers showed up. It turns out she was swatted as part of a sick joke. An anonymous prankster called the cops requesting a welfare check. According to them, their friend was threatening to commit suicide. Without sharing their identity, the anonymous prankster gave police officers Jennifer‘s address. They also didn’t mention that mega superstar, Jennifer, was the one who lived there!

Cops didn’t have the opportunity to bang on Jennifer’s door as a direct point of contact, by the way. They had to go through her security before getting a chance to speak to her face-to-face. At that point, police officers came to the conclusion that they’d been involved in a hoax. It’s been reported that Jennifer is doing fine following the incident. And she unfortunately isn’t the first celebrity this has happened to. Odds are, she definitely won’t be the last.

Miley Cyrus And Other Celebs Who’ve Been Victims To Swatting

Along with Jennifer, other famous folks have also dealt with the heart-pulling drama of having their homes swatted at random. Miley Cyrus is one example after she was swatted in 2013. A prankster called 911 with fake reports of shots fired inside her mansion.

Rihanna went through the same thing in 2013 after the LAPD was told gunfire was heard inside her home. 2013 was a big year for this type of disturbing prank because that’s when it happened to Justin Bieber as well. A 911 caller reported a weapon at Justin‘s home in Calabasas. Police officers later learned the call was nothing more than a petty hoax. A few other celebs who’ve been through the wringer include Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, Kris Jenner, Clint Eastwood, and Selena Gomez.

So, what motivates pranksters to pull something like this off in the first place? It’s largely unclear what drives different individuals to commit a crime as dangerous as this. Some might assume it’s a way for average folks who feel jealous of celebrity wealth and opulence to gain a bit of vengeance. Others believe pranksters thrive off of the adrenaline rush that comes from causing such an explosive reaction with a simple phone call.
