Jeopardy! fans were sent reeling after seeing a contestant on the game show this week. Father Steve Jakubowski made his appearance this week, and he quickly captured the hearts of people at home with his looks. Fans asked for someone to “send help” right away. Continue reading to see why.
Jeopardy! Fans Fawn Over ‘Hot Priest’ Contestant
Father Steve Jakubowski made his appearance on Jeopardy! during the September 19 episode of the game show. He was dressed in his clerical collar and signature black outfit that most priests wear. What people noticed most about him was his heartwarming smile, which he often showed off when cameras panned to him.
Viewers at home went wild for the “hot priest.” The nickname pays homage to Andrew Scott’s character in Fleabag. He portrayed the jaw-dropping, irresistible “Hot Priest.”
Even though Father Steve Jakubowski didn’t win his episode of Jeopardy!, he left a lasting impression on fans. On social media, viewers crooned over the “hot priest.” Some people even begged for help, while others called his presence on the show the “win” they needed.
“There’s a hot priest on Jeopardy rn send help,” one viewer wrote on X. “Hot priest on jeopardy tonight, a small win I needed,” another person chimed in.
One fan joked, “This Jeopardy contestant is a PRIEST? I’m about to convert,” while a fourth wrote, “There is an extremely attractive Catholic priest on Jeopardy, and that’s just not fair.”
Another viewer compared Father Steve to actor Paul Rudd. They joked, “The part of Father Steve will be played by Paul Rudd tonight…#Jeopardy.” Of course, at least one Fleabag comparison was made. “Call me fleabag because i think i need this hot priest on jeopardy rn,” a fan commented.
Ultimately, the “hot priest” lost to Jen Feldman. She also claimed victory over returning champ Chris Lindsay.
Father Steve Reflects On His Jeopardy! Experience
Father Steve is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 2013. After graduating, he attended Notre Dame and pursued seminary school in the years after college.
He was ordained as a Holy Cross priest in April 2024. The Jeopardy! contestant is now serving at a Catholic parish in Austin, Texas.
Since his episode has aired, Father Steve has reflected on his Jeopardy! experience. He said he had a great time.
“Ken Jennings and all the producers and team were very kind to me with the novelty of having a Catholic priest on the show,” he fondly recalled. “I hope it gave a positive impression of my community and the Church.”
Then, he shared that Jeopardy! airs at 3:30 in Austin. So, they had a watch party at the church’s school. The students and parents gathered to watch Father Steve compete and he said that it was “tons of fun to share that with our parish.”
Jeopardy! airs on weekdays. Check your local listings for details.
