‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Fall In Love With Hilary Glazer’s Story
A recent Jeopardy! contestant, Hilary Glazer, might not have won the game at the end of the episode. However, she ended up winning hearts with a little anecdote she shared on the show. In fact, Glazer has even thanked the fans for their own kind words.
A Work Of Art Where It’s Least Expected
A long-standing Jeopardy! tradition is to have the host briefly take an aside and ask each contestant to share a quick story.
On the recent September 13th episode, Glazer answered host Ken Jennings’ question about the most beautiful piece of art she ever saw.
According to TV Insider, Glazer shared that, “Well, Ken, I got to tell you, it took place in a restroom, and I was not the artist.” As she continued, “But one day at work, I went into the ladies’ room — there were three stalls, I happened to go into this one — and inside the toilet was the most beautiful composition of still-life fruit.”
“There were blueberries, there were melons, there were strawberries, and oh, my God, I wish I had a camera because I want[ed] to remember this. It was, like, 2006, so I didn’t have anything to take [a photo] with.”
Jennings mused that Glazer only had her memory of the image, causing her to respond that, “I have my memory, and it’s a wonderful one.” In turn, the host added that, “And now it’s in the memory of millions of viewers,” causing Glazer to say that: “And I hope they appreciate it.”
Jeopardy! fans took to Reddit to share their reactions to the moment. One user, identified as “DysLabs,” wrote that, “Are we not going talk about Hilary’s anecdote? Filled me with much joy, best story ever told on Jeopardy without a doubt.”
Another, known as “J-Goo,” wrote that, “She brought a lot to tonight’s game. I think ‘what is … urf?’ and ‘Who is the necromancer?'” should both be flair options.”
Glazer Took To Reddit To Thanks The Fans
Eventually, Glazer herself went on the episode’s discussion page to thank the fans for their kind words. Using the username, “OwlWalker,” she wrote that, “I’m not worthy! I’m Hilary, and I can’t tell you how tickled I am that you loved my toilet tale.”
Noting that a few fans were confused why the restroom didn’t have trash cans, Glazer also noted she originally did explain there were trash cans available. However, she claimed the explanation had to be edited out.
Glazer, who works as a freelance writer and editor, hails from Charleston, West Virginia. On the Reddit page, Glazer also explained her wager during the final round served as a little in-joke to the state: “My 304 was my love letter to my home state, it’s our area code.”
