Jeopardy! Mayim Bialik Making A Comeback After Being Fired?

When Alex Trebek fell ill and eventually passed away, it was time to start the search for a new Jeopardy! host. Many people, female and male, tried out for this coveted position and then it came down to two. Longtime champion, Ken Jennings was an amazing contender as was actress and neuroscientist, Mayim Bialik. Ultimately, the two of them became co-hosts, meaning they would rotate and host different variations of the game show. Viewers had different preferences for the hosts, some loved the way Ken hosted whereas others felt Mayim was a better fit.

Then, the writer’s guild strike happened and that caused Mayim to step away from the series. This was followed by the SAG-AFTRA strike which kept Mayim away even longer and Ken Jennings had full hosting control. It was clear that Jeopardy! no longer needed two hosts and could get by with just Ken. More so, fans were just fine having a solo host system so Mayim was let go but the door was always opened to her. However, she said she never wanted to come back. Now, it seems that she is open to returning.

According to The Sun, Mayim Bialik seems to be changing her tune. When she spoke to Fox News, she had this to say about making a Jeopardy! comeback:

“I’m definitely still a fan of the show and very honored that I was nominated for an Emmy for my work there. That is something that I got to change my bio, that I was nominated for Jeopardy. So, yeah, it’s something I’m still very proud of. And yeah, we’ll see what happens this season.”

So, it looks like having the open-door policy from the show is a positive for Mayim if she does want to return in the future regardless of what she has said in the past.

No Negativity

Despite fans saying they liked Ken Jennings more than Mayim Bialik as the host of Jeopardy!, she noted that she did not let it get to her. Moreover, she tried not to read any of the negative comments she saw online:

“I didn’t read the comments, which I think is good advice in general.”

Mayim added that is how she lives her life. She stays away from anything that is not positive or good for her in any capacity. Yet, she also knows that the Jeopardy! fans are valid in their feelings:

“And I think, essentially, that’s all I can say about it. I didn’t read the comments and that’s kind of an old practice of mine to try and maintain sanity. And also, I have a lot of respect for the ‘Jeopardy’ fans because it’s a real legacy. It’s a real legacy fandom, so it’s super important.”

She has since been removed from the show’s website but this could all change if she opts to come back for whatever reason. Whether it is guest spots or spinoffs, the doors are opening.

  1. Bialik wasn’t a good fit for Jeopardy. She was very stiff and just the way she handled herself seemed so uncomfortable at the podium. I really don’t want to see her back

  2. I prefer Ken Jennings. Didn’t care for Mayim, think she tried too hard to be likéd. Ken is smàrt znd and understands the show

  3. Bring back Mayim, She is fun, happy, smart and a joy to watch. No she’s not perfect no one is perfect (Okay maybe Alex was). The time is now, I’m pretty sure we’ll have a woman president and I sure Mayim what inspire young girls everywhere to feel free to pursue their dreams regardless of whether they’re male or female.
