Cheryl Burke Breaks Silence On Nikki And Artem’s Situation
Cheryl Burke speaks on Nikki Garcia and Artem’s situation. Burke reveals she has more to say after first discussing the situation on her podcast when the news first broke.
Dancing With Cheryl Burke
Cheryl Burke is an American dancer, model, and television host. She is most well known for being a professional dancer on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. She was married for three years to Matthew Lawerence before their divorce.
Burke has a podcast, Sex Lies and Spray Tans where she is joined by friends, co-stars, and more. She also discusses news which can sometimes involve her friends, much to her dismay at times.
Burke revealed to PEOPLE that, “doing [the segment] Headlines and Hot Topics about my friends is hard.” She continued to say, “It is my job and I will do it, but I don’t necessarily feel comfortable doing it because I know that feeling when you’re being talked about and it’s not fun.”
News broke on the Artem and Garcia situation while Burke was recording and had to discuss it right away, reportedly, before collecting all her thoughts. Now, with time to process, she has more to say.
Nikki And Artem
For those that don’t know the situation, Artem Chigvintsev, Nikki Garcia’s husband was arrested on domestic abuse charges. Though the person Artem abused was never actually stated due to the victim wanting privacy, fans were pretty quick to confirm for themselves that it was WWE star, Nikki Garcia.
Garcia is also known for being a part of The Bella Twins with her twin sister, Brie. The two even had a TV show together to help twins, like themselves, find love, Twin Love.
Nikki and Artem have a child together, Matteo, and for some time, appeared to be very happy. However, this changed everything and made fans believe their relationship wasn’t as perfect as everyone thought. Friends were not even surprised by the actions as they thought the pair’s relationship was strained at times.
Artem has even turned off the comments on some of his posts, presumable from hate comments. In addition, Artem also had a post for their anniversary and Matteo’s birthday which both showed love for Nikki.
Garcia has filed for divorce and there is a battle for custody along with who will be paying for Artem’s lawyer. Everything is quite messy and sad, especially for Matteo.
Sympathies
Moreover, Cheryl Burke is also torn up about Matteo’s situation. She expressed that her “heart goes out” to those affected by the arrest and divorce. Furthermore, she notes how “unfortunate” the situation is and “hopes everybody’s okay.”
Additionally, she says, “I hope that Nikki and Artem are protecting their heart, and I hope that, more importantly, their son is okay.” Burke believes they should do whatever it takes to grieve and heal even if that means taking a break from the spotlight.
Since Burke has also gone through a public divorce from Lawerence, she felt she could shed some light on the situation for Garcia. Though their situations are quite different, she believes she can still get her on the right path.
It was revealed in her podcast that Burke grew up with Artem and he is “family” to her. She was “shocked” and felt very “emotional” with the news. She expressed that she just hopes everyone is “okay.”
Some Advice From Cheryl Burke
She began by expressing the difficulties that come with the divorce but highlighted the importance of time to grieve and heal. She continued, “We all grieve differently, there’s no one way that someone should experience grief, but also, it’s just important to choose you and to protect you.”
Furthermore, Cheryl Burke went on to discuss how the world is different today and how, “we tend just to take care of everyone else’s needs or what we think people want from us without really sitting with ourselves and just figuring that out, even if it doesn’t necessarily mean you agree with society today.”
Now, that Nikki is going to be single, once the divorce goes through, Burke gave some opinions and guidance for Nikki in that department. The opinion is, “I love it now, but it took a while to get here.”
Lawrence and her were married for some time, but they didn’t have a child which can make a separation more difficult. Additionally, it will be harder for Matteo when growing up.
