‘Jeopardy!’ Insider Thinks Colin Jost Poses Threat To Ken Jennings
This is the first season that Ken Jennings is listed as the sole Jeopardy! host. Even though she has been gone for over a year, the internal listings still had Mayim Bialik listed alongside Jennings. However, there seem to be some producers who feel the show would be better with a different host.
One insider even said that the production team is going to carefully watch Pop Culture Jeopardy! to see if Colin Jost might be a better host than Ken Jennings. Here is what you need to know.
Colin Jost Poses Threat To Ken Jennings On Jeopardy!
Pop Culture Jeopardy! is coming to Prime Video. The new series will have teams of three people answering questions that are all based on pop culture topics. According to Ken Jennings, the questions will be as hard as the ones on the regular show but based on movies, music, TV, and trends.
Saturday Night Live cast member Colin Jost has signed on as the show’s new host. This was a surprise move, as many people thought the show would bring in someone who had competed before or maybe someone from Celebrity Jeopardy! However, instead, the show went with an entertainer.
There is one insider who feels this is what the show wants, rather than just another contestant like Ken Jennings. The insider also said that Jennings had made too many mistakes last season and seemed to talk down to some players. The insider claims the producers want a possible change.
“At Sony TV, getting Colin to come aboard Jeopardy! was a major coup,” the insider said (via The U.S. Sun). “Mainly because Colin’s corporate home for twenty years has been [rival media company] NBC Universal.”
Is Ken Jennings Really In Danger On Jeopardy!?
The insider said that producers will watch Pop Culture Jeopardy! and see how Colin Jost pans out as the host. The producers said they will give Jost a lot of room to add humor to the show as he sees fit.
“Colin has more experience with live TV than almost anybody involved with Jeopardy!,” the insider said. “He can make things work in the moment that Ken can’t, and nobody is in denial about that.”
There are rumors that Jost could also take over as host of Celebrity Jeopardy! if things go well on Prime Video. Then, the next step could be the main show, especially if Ken Jennings continues to lose supporters behind the scenes.
