Patti LuPone Criticizes Kim Kardashian

Actress and singer Patti LuPone, known for her work in musical theater, criticized reality star Kim Kardashian over her acting abilities. Interestingly, the conversation was about another starlet’s acting abilities. Notably, this isn’t the first time LuPone has talked about Kardashian.

The Conversation Actually Started About Madonna

LuPone appeared on Hot Ones Versus with actress Aubrey Plaza on the First We Feast YouTube channel. Both actresses appeared to promote the Agatha All Along miniseries, a spin-off of WandaVision.

During the game, the two guests must tell the truth or eat a wing, with the winner being the one who eats less wings.

During the show, Aubrey Plaza brought up an appearance LuPone made on Watch What Happens Live where she criticized singer Madonna as an actress. The singer had performed the role of Eva Perón in the film adaptation of Evita, a role which LuPone had originated on Broadway.

After seeing her on stage and film, LuPone said, “You know, there’s just some things people can’t do, and you just gotta admit you can’t do it. That’s all. Or don’t even try it! Can’t…Everybody can’t do everything.”

As noted on Page Six, LuPone then brought up Kim Kardashian for comparison, even asking, “Can we go there or shall I eat a wing?”

This Wasn’t The First Time LuPone Talked About Kardashian

Madonna wasn’t the only actress that LuPone criticized on Watch What Happens Live, either. She had also previously criticized Kardashian on the show.

During a game of “Do! They! Give A Damn!,” LuPone was asked about her opinions on various pop culture happenings. When asked about Kardashian acting in American Horror Story, where she played publicist and witch Siobhan Corbyn.

During the appearance, LuPone said, “Excuse me, excuse me, Kim. You know, what are you doing with your life? Don’t get on the stage,” She also compared Kardashian to “Mrs. Worthington,” a reference to the Noël Coward song.

Notably, LuPone knows a bit about American Horror Story as she herself also appeared in different seasons of the show. She portrayed Joan Ramsey in American Horror Story: Coven and Kathy Pizazz in American Horror Story: NYC.

For her part, in an interview with Variety, Kardashian described the role as an “honor,” adding that, “Sometimes it just takes that one person to really believe in you and give you that push.”

LuPone made her Broadway debut in 1973 with Three Sisters. She is also known for appearing in productions of Evita, Gypsy, Company, The Robber Bridegroom, and Anything Goes.

On television, she starred in the drama series, Life Goes On as Libby Thatcher. She’s also appeared as herself in a variety of guest appearances, such as in Will & Grace, Glee, and Girls. Animation fans may also recognize her as the voice of Yellow Diamond on Steven Universe.
