America’s Got Talent live shows are sending people to the semifinals right now. However, fans have accused one contestant of cheating by rigging the votes. This comes thanks to a social media post he made during the live voting rounds.

Here is what Alex Sampson did that has fans believing he is cheating this season.

Alex Sampson Wants America’s Got Talent Fans To Cheat?

The quarterfinal rounds of America’s Got Talent were extremely competitive. By the end, it seemed impossible to pick out favorites. However, three were sent to the semifinals. Alex Sampson, Sky Elements, and Young Min moved on to the semifinals.

As a reminder, Alex Sampson is a singer, Young Min is a magician, and Sky Elements is a drone team. They will now compete against each other in the semifinals. However, thanks to a social media post by Sampsoin, many fans have accused him of cheating.

Sampson posted on Instagram Live, “How to vote for me if you are not from the U.S.A.” He then had a link to Nord VPN in what looked like it might be a sponsored post. There is a huge problem with this, and it has nothing to do with the concerns about sponsored posts.

Voting is only permitted in the United States and Puerto Rico. Sampson’s post seemingly opens the doors for people in other countries to vote, even though that is against the rules. Using a VPN, voters can send in their votes while making it look like they are located in the United States.

How Can This Affect America’s Got Talent?

While this is against the rules, it is nothing new. However, when he promoted it himself, Alex Sampson opened a can of worms. Anyone who knows about VPNs has likely been using them to show their computers in different places and has likely been voting on America’s Got Talent using this for years. The difference is that Alex suggested it.

During the auditions, Alex sang “Pretty Baby” and advanced to the next round. He returned and sang “If You Were My Girl” while paying homage to the 1950s doo-wop ballads that he said he loved. Sofia Vergara called Alex a “star,” and Howie Mandel called him a mix between Shawn Mendes and Chris Isaak.

However, during the live show, Simon Cowell called out Alex for what he considered a case of nerves. Simon also said he feels Alex is a star and deserves to be there.

Are you surprised that an America’s Got Talent contestant is promoting a VPN so people can vote for him even if they are located outside the United States? Do you think this has always been happening on AGT? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. I don’t know about VPN’S, but Alex’s post does make it sound the way you said. That is illegal and he should be disqualified for posting it. He’s an ok singer, but other acts are better.

  2. Now wait a minute, Citizens come to the US from other countries who are allowed to appear, audition and even go all the way in a show named “Americas” Got Talent…..
so what’s the problem with other countries voting ???

  3. It’s no different than other countries coming here to be on AGT. I always thought that AGT was a competition for America’s talent 🤔 But just like everything else, now it’s a world talent. Maybe they should change the name from America’s Got Talent to World’s Got Talent. Just saying 😌

  4. He is from Canada so wanting his fans to vote for him shouldn’t be a problem. Other acts can do the same thing.
