Rachel Lindsay Highlights Importance Of A Prenup
After she starred in Nick Viall’s The Bachelor, Rachel Lindsay became the first African American woman cast as The Bachelorette. Choosing Bryan Abasolo, they tied the knot but she didn’t get a prenup: which has proven to be a massive mistake. The ABC star is now opening up and highlighting why women, especially professionally successful ones, need one. Keep reading to see what she has to say.
Why No Prenup For Rachel Lindsay?
After marrying in 2019, the couple became very private. According to The Bachelorette star, they wanted to keep their relationship out of the public eye. Bryan Abasolo, a chiropractor, relocated from Miami to North Hollywood. However, he struggled to build his business there. Additionally, they struggled with their marriage as he announced his divorce from her at the beginning of this year.
Rachel Lindsay never got a prenup because they had different opinions of it. In love, with the world of happiness ahead of her, she let it go. And now, she’s paying for it. The messy divorce involved Bryan Abaslolo claiming a dismal income. He wanted The Bachelorette to pay for his forensic accountant, spousal support, and his legal fees.

The Harsh Outcome Highlights Prenup Importance
This month, a judge ruled harshly against Rachel in favor of Bryan Abasolo. With no prenup, she’s now required to pay him $13,257.00 per month for spousal support, per InTouchWeekly. Additionally, the former Bachelorette needs to fork out $20K towards his forensic expert, and legal fees.
Rachel Lindsay earns about $61K per month. However, she also covers all the costs of their home. Notably, he still lives there and seems reluctant to leave. Bryan Abasolo and his ex have not yet divided assets, so that will probably also be ruled by a judge. ABC fans think it’s all very unfair and sit solidly with Rachel in their opinions.
ABC Fans Wish Rachel’s Dad Insisted On A Prenup
On Reddit, many fans of The Bachelorette believe that prenups need to be normalized. Unfortunately for Rachel Lindsay, she’s become a prime example of why they are so important. Here are some thoughts from a thread on the social media platform:
- This is why we (as a society) need to normalize prenups as marriage insurance. I got one when I got married last year and I had people insinuating that it meant I didn’t trust my husband or that I was walking into the marriage with one foot out the door.
- It breaks my heart hearing about strong women getting steamrolled like that. Rachel is the last person I expected to back down like that.
- A lawyer married a chiropractor and skipped a prenup. WOOF
- …her dad is a judge, I feel like he should have pushed her to get a prenup, even if there wasn’t going to be considerable wealth to divide.
What are your thoughts on the way things turned out for Rachel Lindsay? It’s a big drain on her finances and ABC fans think it seems unfair. But, it’s an important lesson for other professional women to learn, do you agree? Sound off in the comments below, and come back here often for all your Bachelorette news.
