A big change is coming to America’s Got Talent in the live rounds this season. However, the change was just announced with no warning, and many fans are unhappy with it. Here is what is changing and why fans think it is unfair.

Terry Crews Announces Surprising Change To America’s Got Talent

This latest season of America’s Got Talent already made one major change to the show. Instead of each judge getting one Golden Buzzer, they each get two. This means that nine contestants (Terry Crews also got one Golden Buzzer) move on to the live rounds without having to compete again to earn their way there.

This is a nice change, as the Golden Buzzers provide one of the best moments in every episode. The reactions and happiness that come with the Golden Buzzer make it worth the wait. However, it sounds like the show is going a little overboard with these.

The purpose of the Golden Buzzer is to send the best of the best through to the semifinals without worrying about a tough early elimination. However, Terry Crews made a shocking announcement this week.

“For the first time ever in America’s Got Talent history, the Golden Buzzer is about to go live,” Crews said. “One more from each judge will send acts straight to the finals. This summer, anything can happen.”

This made many fans mad since it takes the final options out of the fans’ hands and ensures the judges will have the biggest say in who makes it to the endgame.

  • “Live shows are for the audience to vote, not judges”
  • “This is just telling the fans ‘We don’t like who you vote for'”
  • “Such a desperate attempt to generate something new because a live show golden buzzer makes zero sense.”

America’s Got Talent Taking A Long Hiatus Mid-Season

On top of the Golden Buzzer addition for the live rounds, Terry Crew also had another disappointing bit of America’s Got Talent news. The show will be taking a hiatus between the current rounds and the live rounds.

America’s Got Talent won’t be back on TV until August. This is because the show will take a hiatus throughout the entire duration of the 2024 Paris Olympics. NBC revealed that Season 19 will pick back up, starting on Tuesday, August 13, when the live shows begin at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The Olympics will broadcast on NBC and Peacock during that time.

What are your thoughts about the America’s Got Talent judges getting Golden Buzzers to send people through to the finals in the live rounds? Does this take away from the fan participation in a negative way? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
