‘The Kardashians’ See ‘Fanbase Tank In Colossal Numbers’
Lately, The Kardashians stars are noticing a big dip in their fanbase as it starts to “tank in colossal numbers.” As their following is plummeting, an expert explains why this is happening.
The Kardashians Have Masterminded The Market
Undeniably, The Kardashians have ruled the entertainment world with their fashion, fun, and risque lifestyles. Without a doubt, their empire has been visible to the public eye for 25 seasons of their reality TV series. Both Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Kardashians have given viewers a front-row seat to the unfolding drama in the Kardashian-Jenner family. Furthermore, they have shown they are masterminding the market with their approach to TV and entrepreneurship. But some believe their reign may be coming to an end. Although their presence is fierce, an expert reveals they are dipping in popularity.
The Kardashians Lose Millions
Astoundingly, The Kardashians sisters Kourtney Kardashian, 45, Kim Kardashian, 43, Khloe Kardashian, 40, Kendall Jenner, 28, and Kylie Jenner, 26 are watching numbers trend downward. For instance, in the last 30 days, they lost a staggering three million Instagram followers between them. Some people believe they have even resorted to buying likes to offset the damage. Notably, that is a big dip in money when they have approximately $645,500 per sponsored post at risk.
Undoubtedly, they have a huge following from people who have witnessed everything from sex tape scandals to losing a diamond earring to transgender transitioning to significant others cheating. Without a doubt, they have covered a little bit of everything along the way. However, after shifting from E! to Disney, now fans think they are playing it safe. Oftentimes, they believe that the same storylines are on repeat in The Kardashians.
Trending Downward
Brand and culture expert, Nick Ede, has weighed in on how The Kardashians are trending now. He explains, “The storylines for the last five seasons have all been the same — Kendall talks about anxiety, Khloe laments being a single mum, Kourtney’s more in love with Travis Barker than ever, Kim is working loads and Kylie remains elusive.” Furthermore, he believes the shift has gone toward money. He says, “All they do consistently is promote their businesses. Some episodes feel like one giant advert.”
But he talks about what The Kardashians season is missing now. Saying, “Fans want to know the juicy drama with Kanye West and his wife Bianca, and Kylie’s relationship with Timothee Chalamet.” Seeing the key to gaining numbers back, he says, “But none of that gets shared.” He points out, “What’s more, Kylie keeps her kids out of it, as does Kim for the most part.” Then, he adds, “So fans aren’t able to get to know the next generation.” However, he nails the point by saying, “The thing is, they made their name by sharing everything.” But he believes that is a thing of the past, “They also live lifestyles that are totally unrelatable.” For instance, he says, “Their fans don’t have the same money as them or the freedom to work out for six hours a day.”
The Kardashians See ‘Fanbase Tank In Colossal Numbers’
Nick Ede adds that The Kardashians are sinking. He says, “The new season of the show is airing right now, but no one is talking about it because there’s nothing exciting going on.” Furthermore, he recalls, “There was a time when each episode would make headlines around the world. Those days are gone.” Then, he says, “Losing that many followers is a huge financial hit — most stars are gaining fans by the day, not seeing their fanbase tank in colossal numbers.” He predicts, “The financial repercussions will be massive.” While the family reportedly has more than 1.2 billion followers on Instagram, he believes they need to change their ways before it is too late.
The Kardashians Are Losing Ground
Additionally, Kim Kardashian’s followers took a hit after Taylor Swift released her track “thanK you aIMee.” Furthermore, there seems to be an ongoing feud between Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez. Altogether, Nick Ede thinks the Gen Z population is losing interest in The Kardashians. He says, “The fandom of stars like Selena and Taylor is so much more powerful than anything that the Kardashians have created, and fans will pick sides.”
Some fans have a similar opinion:
- “I think Kylie steam-rolled this train with the Selena thing.”
- “It is all their fault.”
- “The show used to be so fun and had real moments, and now it is all promo for their own businesses.”
The New Target Market Will Require A Change
But Nick Ede continues, “Many young people now are against so much of what the Kardashians stand for, from cosmetic treatments to their lifestyle choices.” Similarly pointing out, “They are becoming more and more like plastic dolls that barely look human, and speak in a monotone voice, without any passion or humour like they used to.”
He believes it is moving away from what Gen Zers want to see. Saying, “They have very little to offer an ever-conscious Gen Z — storylines about Kim losing 16lb to fit into a Marilyn Monroe dress for the Met Gala simply will not impress.” He warns, “The Kardashians remain a cultural juggernaut and will keep a huge fan base, but they need to try to embrace the new generation.” He thinks he knows what would help. Saying, “They need to stop showing off their riches and bring things back to basics, showing personality and real-life situations.” Adding, “Fans want to see if they can go back to being the family we fell in love with.”
