This week, news broke that Paramount Studios’ Awesomeness is developing a new series called Blue Bloods. Fans of the Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg series are excited since the actors have expressed their desire to keep their series going on CBS. However, the bad news is that neither actor will be involved in the new show.

It is also about vampires. Here is what you need to know about the upcoming series.

CBS Developing New Blue Bloods Series

When Deadline reported that a new Blue Bloods series was in development, it excited many fans. CBS canceled the Tom Selleck TV series, although it did give the showrunners time to develop a new finale for the show. However, Seleck kept fans’ hopes alive that it could return. The news of the upcoming series might have caused a lot of excitement.

However, this is not that Blue Bloods series. Instead, this is a new series based on the novels by Melissa de la Cruz. While the police procedural series launched in 2010, the novels that share the same name started publication in 2006, four years earlier. There will be fans who think the new Blue Bloods is trying to steal the name, but the books used the title before the TV show existed.

As a matter of fact, there were six novels in the Blue Bloods series before the TV show ever premiered. No one thinks the CBS series stole the title, but fans should know this before they falsely accuse the new series of doing the same.

What Is The New Blue Bloods About?

Blue Bloods is a series of vampire novels by Melissa de la Cruz. The last book in the series was published in 2013. The books include Blue BloodsMasqueradeRevelationsThe Van Alen LegacyMisguided AngelLost in Time, and Gates of Paradise. The series also includes companion novels, spinoff books, and graphic novels.

The series follows fallen angels from Lucifer’s loyal army who fell to Earth and live out their days as vampires. This happened when Abbadon and Azrael, Lucifer’s most loyal lieutenants, stopped fighting and betrayed Lucifer. When they went to Michael, it was too late, and they were cast out, waking up on Earth as immortal vampires.

Michael and Gabriel then chose to descend to Earth as the Uncirrputed and helped create the Code of Vampires, rules they had to follow to bring peace and beauty to the world. These are the Blue Bloods. However, there are also Silver Bloods, angels who remain loyal to Lucifer and refuse to follow the code.

The books follow Schuyler Van Alen, a Half-Blood, the only one of her kind, who learns when she turns 15 that she is part of this immortal lineage, and her life falls apart.

How does the new Blue Bloods TV series sound? Do you wish the other Blue Bloods would come back? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. What a slap in the face to the Blue Blood cast….vampires ….really….whoever came up with that idea should be fired….Loved THE Blue Bloods story line and the message it sent out regarding family ties….i watch the re runs all the time…hope they don’t take those off too!

      1. Noone will -!!! too bad all good things must come to an end. I hope Bridget Moynihan is ready to play “KAREN READ” IN A TRUE STORY outta the south shore of Boston involving a Boston cop being murdered and left to die on another Boston cops lawn.! I think they should name the movie “FEARVIEW”-!! ITS GOING TO BE AMAZING,AS LONG AS KAREN READ IS ACQUITTED OF THE CHARGES AGAINST HER.! CANTON, MASS @DEDHAM COURTHOUSE ,MESSACUSETTS-!! MESS!! CORRUPT. JOSH LEVY WE NEED YOU-! US ATTORNEY.

      2. I definitely won’t watch the vampire show either. It’s definitely a slap in the face to the real Blue Bloods actors and their loyal fans!

  2. Bye CBS…..you let go a great show and want to replace it with that..it may appeal to younger people but on Friday nights those people will be out not at home watching tv. I will also he watching repeats.

  3. That is the most ridiculous idea I ever heard of. You might as well ship that idea for Blue Bloods to SyFy or CW or Netflix. I like CBS the way it is except for the fact it canceled ALL my favorite and popular shows. Come up with something else if you have to.

  4. Seriously ? Turning a terrific crime drama into this this type of a farce. If thats what they want then just cancel the show although & rename it as a altogether different show. They went & canceled one of the very best shows & turn around to make it into this trash without the top 2 stars in it. Pathetic!

  5. I would not watch this Blue Bloods. Its ridiculous. Wouldn’t watch without Tom Selleck or Donnie Wahlberg. Bring back the original Blue Bloods!

  6. Don’t like the idea for the new Blue Bloods. I won’t
be watching it. Very disappointing to hear.

  7. I have always enjoyed vampire movies, going back to the wonderful Hammer Horror movies of the 60s. I loved tall, handsome, sexy Christopher Lee!!! ❤️ And the Peter Cushing as the hero! Such a great pair together!
That said, I will avoid like the plague this confusing, tangled mess of a storyline, that I doubt anyone can follow! You gotta be drunk or high to be interested in such a convoluted origin! Ain’t no way I am interested in a mess about demons, who become vampires, archangels, who come down to set the rules for them? Then there’s a half breed heroine? Nope. Nope.
    Bye-bye, CBS: COULDA BEEN SELLECK.

    1. WTF CBS ???? Cancel a top 10 rated show – among others they cancelled – to replace it with a ridiculous story line show with the same name?? What audience are they trying to fool into watching, because they have just lost 2 more fans.
Too bad CBS doesn’t see or read these comments …………..or even care…………….
