Will There Be A ‘Blue Bloods’ Spinoff?
Blue Bloods fans were devastated last year when the series was canceled after 14 seasons. The CBS drama has been loved by viewers for more than a decade. However, it seems to have run its course on television. Fans are wondering if there will be a Blue Bloods spinoff or any chance of the beloved show returning to TV. Here is everything that has been shared so far.
CBS Execs Address Blue Bloods Spinoff Rumors
Last month, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins said, “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods.” His statement spurred spinoff rumors for the CBS drama.
Unfortunately, the network has released a statement regarding the future of Blue Bloods, and it’s not what fans want to hear.
David Stapf, the CBS Studios president, addressed the rumored spinoff. He told Deadline, “We don’t have anything that’s going to be in development soon, but it’s a brand, a title and a show that is beloved.”
He continued, “We’ve got to get it right, so we’re taking our time and trying to figure it out, ‘OK, what is the next iteration of Blue Bloods?’”
Although the show was canceled last November, there are still more episodes for fans to see. The last episodes of the series will air this fall on CBS through December.
The CBS Studios president pointed this out, saying, “We have a whole season to go where we intend to celebrate it all season long… so there’s still time for us to figure that out.”
Fans Hold Onto Hope That CBS Will Renew
When Blue Bloods comes to an end, there will be a total of 293 episodes in the series. New episodes will stream live on Paramount+. Fans can also watch previous episodes on the streamer.
Underneath an article about the rumored spinoff, fans chimed in with their thoughts on renewing the CBS drama. “They should continue Blue Bloods. This is one of the best shows aired. What a shame!” one fan commented.
Another person chimed in, “It makes no sense that they canceled Blue Bloods in the first place.” A third begged, “Please please please renew the show!” Several others commented on their wishes for the show to stay on the air. “No one wants it to end,” one fan exclaimed.
Tom Selleck, who stars in the CBS drama, spoke about the cancelation in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning. The 79-year-old actor said that he hopes the network ultimately decides to renew Blue Bloods and continue the story.
The show follows the Reagans, a multi-generational family of police officers in New York City. In addition to Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, and Vanessa Ray also star in the program.
