Doubling Down With the Derricos stars Deon Derrico and his wife Karen Derrico didn’t wake up one day and suddenly decide to get a divorce. From the finale of Season 5, it seems that cracks started showing up in Paradise a while back.

Deon Derrico Got A Quick Divorce

Doubling Down With the Derricos fans don’t actually know what made the couple decide they wanted a divorce. So naturally, they speculate. Some people think they split because of money problems. Either way, it seemed like quite a tough season, especially when the TLC couple discussed the new home.

Deon Derrico claimed that he still loves Karen Derrico very much. So, perhaps that’s a hint that she wanted out more than he did. Possibly viewers will never know what really happened. But, the official storyline on the show is that they were working on things and their relationship seemed to improve. Karen said in a confessional:

When you’re trying to walk through that storm, just know that rainbow is there and it’s on other side, [and] it’s gonna be a beautiful, bright sunshine day.

TLC Star Karen Derrico Ditched The Rainbow?

Doubling Down With the Derricos fans saw bickering about the house on the show and they hoped it was just scripted for drama. However, the divorce seemed real enough, so much for rainbows. Still, they are at least working to try and keep the kids in a good place emotionally.

With the focus on the kids, Deon Derrico said:

Family never changes

Karen Derrico had the most to say, and she pointed out that they had communication issues. She explained, “We haven’t really been on the same page throughout this entire house drama, but we’re really and truly starting to communicate and see eye to eye.”

Unfortunately, it seems from the TLC fans’ perspective, that their newfound communication didn’t save their marriage. As far as many of them are concerned, reality TV made another marriage casualty. Many of them compare it to the split between Amy and Matt Roloff, or Jon Gosselin and his wife Kate. What matters the most to viewers is that the split does not damage the children.

Per InTouch Weekly, at the end of the episode on TLC, a card notified viewers that the divorce came a matter of months after they finally moved into the new home. The original statement about the split revealed that Karen Derrico will get $1,166 per month to support the kids. Additionally, she will cough up the costs of medical insurance. However, the oldest child, Darian, who attends college isn’t part of the arrangements as she is 18 now.

  1. I think there hypocrites and fraud and fake show is full of lies preach love and family and all the while knew they were getting divorced to fool the people 🤬🤬🤬🤬🖕🏻

    1. It wasn’t fake, but trying to work it out when a wedge has already started the divide and the divide kept widening; why? One of them wanted it to work out and the other one didn’t. That was evidence when Deon kept giving excuses about how long it was going to take to get the house, get it fixed up and moving in it. Karen just felt mentally crushed and didn’t know what to do.

    1. Not in the state of Nevada, or anywhere in this country, especially when inflation is at an all time high!

  2. I hope they don’t continue with the show until they see the impact the divorce will have on the kids. Separation will be their new norm and may prove difficult to adjust.

  3. 1166 a month for child support right something is fishy. My husband paid 720 a month for 2 kids twenty years ago.

  4. I admit I was surprised , but watching that father’s transformation with the bags/ purses ( and they all looked empty), and bedazzled pants, I knew something was off. And where is Eric this season? Yeah that relationship was strange from the start. I wish them
All well, especially the kids and GG

  5. I seen this coming way before this season. When she wanted to move back to her hometown and he said no, that started the plans to leave. Her whole demeanor changed after that. Reality shows are the suicide to marriages, yes it’s good money but at what cost?

  6. Whatever Karen wanted to do, it looked like Deon opposed to it. Like moving back to her hometown, wanting to start her own clothing line and even started an argument on tv because he disagreed with Karen about pushing Darian about pursuing her dreams. That’s when Karen decided that she’d enough and wanted out; she got up, walked away from Deon and pulled her mic off. #DeonIsNotTheGoodHusbandHeFakedOutToBe
