Adam Lambert’s Shocking Pick For New ‘American Idol’ Judge

Adam Lambert is one of the most successful singers to come out of American Idol. He also achieved it without winning his season. Now, Lambert is looking at the show that made him a star, and he has an idea for its future. With Katy Perry leaving her judge’s chair, Adam has an idea for who could replace her.

Adam Lambert On Katy Perry’s American Idol Replacement

With Katy Perry leaving American Idol to release a new album and go on tour, the show needs a replacement as a judge. Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will be back in their chairs, and they need to find a third, which will almost assuredly be a woman. However, who does Adam Lambert think should replace Perry?

“I think LeAnn Rimes would be great,” Adam Lambert said to a caller while he was on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I just worked with LeAnn Rimes down in Australia on The Voice, and she’s so lovely, so down to Earth — very spiritual and deep, but great sense of humor. I think she’d be good on the show.”

This would give American Idol an experienced judge to replace Katy Perry rather than bringing in someone without experience in reality TV judging. LeAnn coached the show for one season in 2024 with Lambert (which has yet to air). LeAnn will also appear in the new The Voice UK later in 2024 as well.

Adam Lambert Became A Star Despite Losing American Idol

Adam Lambert appeared on American Idol in Season 8. With a massive 100 million votes cast, Lambert came in second place behind champion Kris Allen. However, that didn’t stop Lambert, who got the job of a lifetime after leaving the show.

After American Idol, Lambert released his first album, For Your Entertainment, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. His next album, Trespassing, hit in 2012 and debuted at number one on the charts. However, he hit the highest of highs in 2014.

That was the year he joined the legendary rock band Queen, singing the Freddy Mercury songs as the band toured. With original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor, Lambert suddenly was one of the hottest tour tickets in the world.

Adam Lambert has released five studio albums, the most recent being High Drama in 2023. He also has three live albums, two of which feature Queen. He has also been back on television, working as a judge on Project Runway, American Idol, The X Factor, RuPal’s Drag Race All Stars, Starstruck, and this year on The Voice Australia.
