‘Baby Reindeer’ Real Martha Demands Emails Released In Lawsuit
Netflix’s Baby Reindeer is wildly popular with viewers.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, it’s the 10th most-watched program in Netflix history. On top of that, it earned a whopping 56.5 million viewers within the first 26 days of its release in April.
Word of mouth keeps the drama alive and well on the platform. But as more Netflix subscribers tune in, the real-life Martha’s anger grows. She and her lawyers are pursuing legal action against Netflix and now want the emails in the case to be made public.
Will she get her wish?
Baby Reindeer‘s Real-Life Martha Wants To Clear Her Name
As Baby Reindeer‘s popularity grew, many viewers wanted to learn more about the real woman who inspired the character Martha. They quickly found her — a Scottish woman named Fiona Harvey.
She alleged that after viewers discovered her identity, she received harassing messages from all over the world. Harvey went on to tell her side of the story to Piers Morgan. However, many found the interview to be incredibly bizarre. In many people’s eyes, Harvey was clearly Martha.

As per The Sun, Fiona Harvey’s lawyers demand that the emails involved in the case be made public. Allegedly, there are “thousands of texts and emails” involved in the case. Harvey has filed a £135million lawsuit against Netflix after all the pain and torment Baby Reindeer caused her.
In the show, the character Martha sends innumerable texts and emails to Richard Gadd’s character. Some were incredibly simple while others felt harassing and even threatening at times. In the interview with Piers Morgan, Harvey maintains that it was nothing more than friendly banter.
In hopes of clearing her name, Fiona Harvey and her legal team demand the texts and emails be made public. Since the messages played such an important role in the story, it seems like a reasonable request on Harvey’s part.
For now, the public waits with bated breath to see what will happen next. If the messages are indeed made public, it could very well sway opinions about the case overall.
The Netflix Stars Skyrocket In Popularity
For the time being, it’s hard to say how the legal proceedings will play out. In the meantime, Baby Reindeer stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning are experiencing incredible popularity.
In fact, some think the pair might receive an invitation to appear on Dancing With The Stars this fall. If the lawsuit goes Harvey’s way, it seems less likely that this will happen.
