Doubling Down With The Derricos fans are totally shocked to hear that Deon and Karen Derrico are divorced. Of course, that will make TLC fans wonder if it means the end of the show. After all, last year, Deon Derrico called on fans to help save their gig.

Doubling Down With The Derricos Tension Not Faked

In Season 5, TLC fans saw a lot of tension between Deon and Karen Derrico. She fought with him over the house. And, he yelled at her over the education of their oldest daughter, Darian. Many fans hoped it was simply drama to crank up the ratings. However, the news that the marriage ended probably explains why the show aired those tense scenes.

TLC fans panicked when Deon Derrico reached out to them in September last year. At the time, he warned his fans on social media, saying, “Doubling Down With The DERRICOs may be canceled.” Ratings were down, so he urged the viewers to participate in a forum to keep the show going. The show was saved, hence Season 5.

Low Ratings – Will The Show Be Canceled?

Historically, TLC didn’t show much about the actual marriage of Deon and Karen Derrico.  It was focused on raising multiple birth babies, homeschooling, vacations, and more, with a focus on the kids. It’s reasonable, therefore, to suggest that the show technically could continue. But, presumably, they would drop Karen giving birth to more children, and focus on the kids’ lives as they grow up in a huge family.

As of June 9, the ratings on The TV Ratings Guide showed Karen and Deon Derrico’s Season 5, sat in the 18-49 demographic at 49 out of the Top 50 cable shows. OutDaughtered was at 26, and 7 Little Johnstons at 40.

Doubling Down With The Derricos might not be renewed because of poor ratings. However, fans can take hope from the fact that TLC hasn’t yet stated either a renewal or a cancellation. Karen Derrico will probably be the most affected if the show is canceled because she isn’t getting much child support money from Deon. Meanwhile, he has his real estate business to bring in cash.

TLC Fans Start Discussing The Divorce Impact

The divorce news is still too fresh for many fans to wonder about a cancellation. However, on Reddit, a few people raised the subject. Here are some of their thoughts:

  • I am sure they will continue to do the show divorced. They need to get money somehow for all those kids. But really only $1,166 a month for ALL THOSE KIDS!???
  • I wonder if they will still do the show.
  • Another TLC reality couple bites the dust! So this season will be the decline?

What are your thoughts about whether the TLC show will continue now that the divorce has come to light? Do you agree that things seemed precarious before, so there might not be a renewal? Will you feel sad if Season 5 is the last one? Sound off in the comment below, and come back here for all your Derrico news.

  1. I truly hope this will not be the last Derricos season. A cancellation would leave too many fans wondering happened to the kids, GG and Amani. Their real life situations have provided enough cliffhangers and content to last for many seasons to come. The ratings may even increase. I hope they will be renewed…over and over again.

  2. I don’t want to see the show end. I enjoy watching them as a point of interest I am watching the shows I DVR just in case I am not home when the show comes on😢

  3. Please don’t cancel the show. I was watching it last night and my heart sank. I truly love this show. I hope they can reconcile and reunite.

  4. I am saddened by the news of the divorce. Of course everyone has to do what’s best for them but I am truly praying that they get back together and work things out. Their children definitely need 2 parents and raising 14 children in separate homes is going to be difficult. I enjoyed watching this family. It was clean and family oriented. I hope to see the show come back and show how they are working together to raise their children. We have questions like did they move into the bigger house? Is Karen’s business still open? Did Derion go to college? Bring them back!!!

  5. If the crazy Sister Wives show can continue after they all except Robin has left Cody then I don’t see why the Derrico show would have to be canceled.
