Steve Burton Shares Future Of Leslie Charleson On ‘General Hospital’

Steve Burton is sharing the future of his General Hospital mother, Leslie Charleson who plays Monica Quartermaine. She has been on the soap opera since 1977 so she is a staple of the series. Steve Burton Shares Future Of Leslie Charleson On General Hospital

It was a thrill for General Hospital fans when Steve Burton returned to the show as Jason Morgan in early 2024. The actor had previously been let go in late 2021 for not complying with the vaccine mandates. He then went off to appear on Days of Our Lives. Yet, when his stint was over, fans desperately hoped he would come back to GH. They got their wish at the end of the 60th anniversary special when he came out in his iconic black leather jacket signifying Jason’s return.

However, the question was whether or not Leslie Charleson would reappear as his mother, Monica Quartermaine. She did make a shadow appearance during Jason’s arraignment by sending him a message. Monica let her son know that she believed in him, leading both the actor and character to tears. So, will the actress be back to work with Steve in the near future? According to Soap Hub, Steve did offer some insight into this match-up on the May 23rd episode of the Daily Drama podcast.

“I was just going to say about Leslie Charleson and Monica. Someone asked if Jason (Steve Burton) and Monica will have scenes.”

That was when Steve Burton shared more about what was going on with Leslie Charleson and if the two would share the screen:

“She’s on the mend. She’s doing better. I’m not going to say anything, just to be respectful of her, because I love her so much. Hopefully, she’ll be back and I’ll get some scenes with Mom.”

Steve did opt to stay tight-lipped as to what was going on with Leslie and her health as he was unsure what was public. A few years back, she suffered a serious fall but has been absent as of late. This has viewers worried if she is doing well.

Last Time Fans Saw Monica

Though it seems like forever, the last time Leslie Charleson was on General Hospital was in December 2023. She came back after a nearly two-year absence so she has only been gone for a handful of months. Still, she was not there when Steve Burton made his big return which would have been great for fans. Now that Steve has mentioned how much he loves and cares for Leslie, hopefully, she will be back sooner rather than later, if only for a few scenes.
