‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Cliffhanger Has Fans Demanding More After Finale

NCIS: Hawai’i finished its run, but fans lashed out after the season finale. Because the showrunners had no idea CBS was going to cancel the show, they finished the season with a huge cliffhanger, and now it appears that fans will not get to see what happens with the team after this huge moment.

Here is a look at the NCIS: Hawai’i finale cliffhanger, and what fans had to say about leaving the show with unfinished business.

NCIS: Hawai’i Ends With A Cliffhanger

NCIS: Hawai’i ended its series with Sam Hanna (LL Cool J from NCIS: Los Angeles) attending a going away party from his team. They then toasted him and all the other fallen agents. However, the episode ended with a huge cliffhanger.

Agent Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) returned home where she expected her daughter Julie to greet her. Instead, Maggie Shaw (Julie White) sat on her couch, with a drink in hand. Maggie was Jane’s former mentor and friend in the CIA. She hadn’t appeared since the first season. Maggie tells her that Julie isn’t there and then says, “You’re probably going to need a drink for what’s coming next.”

That is when the episode ended. The bad news is that fans will never know what is coming next because the credits rolled and CBS canceled the series. Season 4 marked the end and CBS chose to create a new NCIS series rather than continue with an already successful show.

Fans Lash Out At CBS After NCIS: Hawai’i Finale

The biggest problem with the NCIS: Hawai’i finale is that the entire season was shot, with the expectations of a new season. However, after filming ended, CBS canceled the show and chose not to renew it. CBS announced the cancelation three weeks after the last episode’s cliffhanger was filmed.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said it was important to keep the shows fresh. This is why the network also canceled Blue Bloods, despite its high ratings. She also said there is no chance it will get renewed after the decision, and the cliffhanger will remain unanswered.

Fans have lashed out against the move on social media:

  • “Don’t take this away from us. You say you care, but your actions show differently. Be better.”
  • We all know why ncis hawai’i was the only show to get cancelled without a proper ending. cbs wasn’t exactly subtle about it considering they cancelled it on lesbian visibility day.”
  • I am now starting to think that @CBS’s plan all along was to cancel #NCISHawaii because they knew that their would be outcry online, and get some free publicity.”
