‘Young Sheldon’ Spin-Off To Prove Fan Theory?
Young Sheldon is ending in May 2024 but the world of the Big Bang Theory spin-off is continuing. While Sheldon Cooper’s story ends when he goes to Cal-Tech, the world continues with a new series following SHeldon’s big brother Georgie and his wife Mandy.
The series just got a new title, and the title sounds like a fan theory from Big Bang Theory might be coming true. Here is what you need to know.
Young Sheldon Spin-Off To Prove TBBT Theory?
Young Sheldon ends this month because producers feel it is a perfect time to end the story. Sheldon left for Cal-Tech, where he starts his new life, and without Sheldon around his family, there is no story there as far as he is concerned. However, fans fell in love with Sheldon’s family and that is where the world continues.
The new show follows Sheldon’s older brother Georgie and his wife Mandy. Now, fans who watched The Big Bang Theory know that Georgie had multiple failed marriages. When Sheldon earned his Nobel Prize, he said he received texts congratulating him from Georgie’s ex-wife and Georgie’s “other ex-wife.”
Over the past few years, this had Young Sheldonfans upset because it means that Georgie’s work to make his marriage with Mandy work would all be for nothing. It is a similar sense of panic when fans know that Sheldon’s dad is going to die — although that has not happened yet in the series.
However, could Mandy not only be Georgie’s ex-wife but also his “other ex-wife?” The new Young Sheldon spinoff is called Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
Did Georgie & Mandy Get Married Twice?
When asked about the fictional couple’s relationship, Emily Osment, who plays Mandy, said she wants this to be what happens. “I’m hoping that I’m the ex-wife and the new wife,” Osment said (via TV Line). “People get divorced and remarried. Why can’t she be both?
This is also something that many Big Bang Theory fans theorized as well. Just because Sheldon mentioned it like they were two different people, this is Sheldon Cooper. He could have referred to it that way as a way for him to shrug off the fact that his brother got married twice to the same woman.
Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage will follow Montana Jordan and Emily Osment as they reprise their roles as Georgie and Mandy. The couple works to raise their young family in Texas while juggling parenting, adulthood, and marriage challenges. There is no word on who else will star in the show, but many fans surely want the return of Meemaw. There is still the question of George’s fate, as well.
