‘Home & Away’ Orpheus Pledger Arrested After 3-Day Manhunt
Orpheus Pledger has been arrested following a three-day manhunt. The Home & Away star was wanted after he was caught on CCTV brutally assaulting a woman. The Australian soap opera star managed to escape police custody after originally being arrested on March 25. Keep reading to learn about the events that led up to the manhunt.
CCTV Shows Orpheus Pledger Involved In Violent Attack
Pledger was found by authorities on Thursday night and was immediately taken into custody. The Aussie actor allegedly stomped on a woman’s head during a brutal assault. Local police detained him earlier this week, but he managed to escape from custody and went on the run.
CCTV footage was released on Tuesday that shows the violent attack that was allegedly carried out by Orpheus Pledger. The video shows an unnamed woman who is grabbed from behind by her hair. Then she is pulled down to the ground.
The rest of the assault happens just out of reach of the camera. However, a bone-chilling shadow seems to show Pledger stomping on the woman’s head.
Apparently, the incident was brought to the attention of the police because the woman called the authorities right before the assault took place. She was heard saying, “he’s coming” before the call was disconnected.
The unnamed woman suffered several severe injuries as a result of the attack that was allegedly carried out by Orpheus Pledger. She had a hematoma on her head, several cuts to her cheek, and multiple bruises. The victim told the court that she believed that Pledger would “eventually kill her.”
Home & Away Star Placed In Hospital For Mental Health Care
Pledger was arrested on March 25 and placed in pre-trial detention. His lawyer, Matthew MacCuspie, got him moved to a guarded hospital room. He stated that his client’s mental health was suffering while he stayed in jail. Magistrate Justin Foster accepted the plea and Pledger was supposed to undergo involuntary inpatient mental health care.
On Monday, the Home & Away star escaped the Royal Melbourne Hospital and went on the run. It is believed that he left the hospital around 6:10 p.m. after sitting around waiting for his appointment for more than six hours.

While the magistrate acknowledged that a mental health patient should not have been left waiting that long, he said he will hesitate to grant any similar pleas in the future. He says that he “bent over backwards to try and offer someone mental health treatment as they require” for Orpheus Pledger to run off.
This isn’t the first time Pledger has been in trouble with the law, but this is the first known violent offense. In 2021, he was caught carrying crystal meth and valium and was arrested on drug charges as a result.
