Did Theresa Nist really want a quickie marriage after finding love on The Golden Bachelor, or did she feel pressure to go through with the Golden Wedding despite her doubts about Gerry Turner? Keep reading for the latest on the divorce that rocked Bachelor Nation.

Unwillingness To Move Blamed For Split

Senior couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist married in January after just a few months of dating. They cited their age as the reason for the rush down the altar. Millions of viewers tuned in to watch The Golden Wedding on ABC.

Those same viewers woke up on Friday, April 12, to the news that the Golden couple was no more. Gerry and Theresa announced that morning on Good Morning America that they had decided to divorce. The paperwork was filed later that day in Gerry’s home state of Indiana.

Theresa and Gerry gave a united front on GMA, claiming that distance was the reason for the divorce. The original plan was for them to move together to South Carolina or a neutral state. Then the plan seemed to shift to Gerry Turner moving from Indiana to New Jersey.

Despite bringing his beloved dog to Jersey to meet Theresa, it doesn’t appear that the Golden Bachelor star ever officially moved to the Garden State.

Other Bachelor Nation alum, such as Nick Viall and Bob Guiney have shared their opinion that there is a deeper reason for the split. One possible reason floated on social media is Theresa Nist not wanting to give up her job in New Jersey.

Theresa Nist Felt Pressure To Marry Gerry Turner Despite Doubts?

April Kirkwood, who competed on The Golden Bachelor, said that she tried to warn Theresa Nist about marrying Gerry Turner. The comments were widely condemned, but were there red flags that Theresa ignored ahead of the wedding?

The Hollywood Reporter published an attack on Gerry Turner’s character in November. The article included allegations that the senior lied about his career, finances, and romantic past. Theresa Nist said during the GMA interview that the shocking article didn’t have any bearing on the decision to divorce.

But an insider spilled to Life & Style that Theresa Nist had doubts before the televised wedding. The spy claimed that “Theresa feels like she was duped” after the truth about Gerry Turner’s past came out.

The source also alleged that Theresa had doubts about marrying Gerry. “Theresa felt like she had to go through with the wedding because the whole world was watching,” the insider claimed.

Do you think Theresa Nist could felt pressured to go through with the Golden Wedding despite her misgivings? Sound off in the comments.

  1. Theresa is genuine lovely lady. Gerry Turner is master manipulator. The two opposites cannot mix to work out, thus a failure!

  2. She is an educated mature, wise, mentally sain adult who is a big girl capable of acting like an adult and making her own choices. Equally her fault. Before they said they would get married they should have known where they were going to live.

  3. Theresa lives in a lovely 1100 sq ft home in NJ w/high cost of living. She also worked very hard for the multiple securities licenses she possesses of which cannot be transferred to some states. Gerry appears far to arrogant to ever consider living in her small home and likely wanted her to sell to provide $ for a winter home while intending to use his home during the summer. That home was not his original lake home with Toni but rather one he purchased after her death for tens of thousands less than the home he sold. Question whether his retirement isn’t funded with proceeds of deceased wife’s estate.
