Nick Viall Doesn’t Buy Reason For ‘Golden Bachelor’ Divorce
When it comes to relationships, few people have navigated the complexities of love in the public eye quite like Nick Viall. The season 21 Bachelor and two-time Bachelorette contestant (plus a season on Bachelor In Paradise) is a well-known figure in the reality TV dating scene.
Now, the new father adds his perspective to the high-profile divorce of Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist.
Nick Viall Doesn’t Buy Reason For Theresa Nist, Gerry Turner Divorce
Turner and Nist shocked fans last week when they announced their split just three months after their televised wedding. The couple had fallen in love on the show, and their later-in-life fairytale romance seemed like the stuff of dreams. But, as Viall suggests, there may be more to the story.
He hinted to PEOPLE magazine that there might be underlying issues that led to the breakdown of their relationship. “I was caught off guard, and surprised by the abruptness,” he said about the initial divorce announcement.
But now that he’s had time to digest the news, he doesn’t think the former couple are sharing the real story. “I feel like maybe there’s more to the story that we’re not hearing.”
The Golden Bachelor coupled cited their living arrangements as the main reason for the split. When push came to shove, neither wanted to leave their homes or families. Theresa Nist is based in New Jersey while Gerry Turner calls Indiana home.
But Nick Viall doesn’t buy that story. “I don’t think it’s because they couldn’t find an apartment together. They clearly could have, they simply chose not to,” he said.
“Give it a couple months, and then this truth will come out,” the former Bachelor added.

Nick Viall wants to be the first to get to the truth about the split. He told PEOPLE that Theresa Nist is welcome to come on his Viall Files podcast when she’s ready to talk.
He suggested that perhaps she found out more about Gerry Turner’s scandalous past after they got married. “Maybe Gerry’s not as golden as we hoped he would be,” Viall surmised.
