‘Y&R’ Eric Braeden Updates On Cancer Situation
The Young and the Restless star, Eric Braeden updated on his cancer this week, and it comes six months since he was declared cancer-free. Read on to find out what he had to say, and whether the 83-year-old actor who played the role of Victor Newman for decades still maintains good health.
Y&R Star Eric Braeden’s Cancer Treatment Delayed
When the CBS soap opera star became aware that he had a problem, he consulted with a doctor. Mainly, his symptoms were urinating a lot. However, the first physician he saw got the diagnosis wrong. So, he struggled on until he could barely pass urine at all. Seeing another doctor brought the bad news that The Young and the Restless veteran had cancer.
Fortunately, the delays in diagnosis and treatment seem to have been overcome with modern medicine. In August last year, Eric Braeden gave an update. Incredibly, the Y&R star’s checkups revealed that he was cancer-free. Naturally, he felt very grateful for the advanced treatment available. The Young and the Restless fans were happy to hear that their favorite CBS actor was back on the road to good health.
A New Cancer Update From The Victor Newman Actor
Cancer isn’t something to ignore, so treatment and checkups become part of fighting the illness. Mainly, it’s because it can spread to other parts of the body. Six months have passed since he kicked cancer to the curb, and he’s still okay. The Y&R star spoke with ET’s Cassie DiLaura about it recently. He advised The Young and the Restless fans to not fear cancer, urging them to get their checkups.
Asked what “emotions” he felt when he heard that he was “cancer-free,” the CBS soap opera star sighed. Then Eric Braeden replied, saying:
It’s funny, I don’t react immediately to things. I react afterwards. On the way home, I thought, ‘Keep on looking at it step by step.” That’s good advice for anything you do in life. Don’t anticipate the result, don’t think way ahead. No, take it step by step.
He also talked about how much the “Y&R family” means to him. He said, “It means everything. The fans have been very kind, [so] it means a lot.” He also talked about his years on the popular show, saying, “When I came here, I signed for three months. I said, ‘I won’t do any longer than that. And the rest is a 44-year history. Isn’t that something?”
Are you glad to hear that Eric Braeden is still in the clear with cancer and that he took the time to advise people to get themselves checked out? Then if they get diagnosed, to just take it “step by step.” Shout out in the comments below, and come back here for all your The Young and the Restless news.

OMG! I know exactly how you feel. When you hear you have cancer your numb and really do not know what that will mean for you. Like you said one day at a time is all you can do. I didn’t look at a future or the past you just live one day at a time. I told my oncologist not to give me numbers or dates or stages or any indepth medical jargon. just tell me where to be and I will be there. I went into treatment as I did with any job or work or task at hand with a smile. It was my job to get well. After numerous chemo and surgery and radiation my doc said Leslie you are in remission. I said like a pause in getting better? He said no your cancer free.. There i stood numb again lol and I went home and told my family. So I knew exactly how you felt from beginning to end of treatment..you take one day at a time and..you just be….God Bless you Eric!!
