TODAY fans regularly look forward to seeing Hoda Kotb on the program. However, she was noticeably absent from the show during a very important week.
The 59-year-old was in the middle of celebrating five years of cohosting the show with Jenna Bush Hager. Jenna replaced Kathie Lee Gifford on the show five years prior and fans loved the fun dynamic between the women.
Hoda’s other cohostess Savannah Guthrie told viewers that Hoda was “out on assignment,” as Sheinelle Jones took over her hosting duties.

Hoda Kotb Was Missing From TODAY — But For A Good Reason
TODAY fans were a little concerned that Hoda Kotb was missing from the show during such an important week. However, it doesn’t appear anything is immediately wrong.
On the show, Savannah Guthrie eventually confirmed Hoda was on her way to New Orleans for special segments on April 11-12. Hoda and Jenna previously shared they planned to film from Louisiana for their fifth-anniversary celebration.
During an episode last month, the women said they wanted to celebrate their huge milestone in a city they loved and had the most fun. But that’s not all — Hoda and Jenna will start the city’s 2024 French Quarter Fest music festival. Two fans who won a trip are going to join them.

The Cohostesses Reflect On Five Wonderful Years Together
Many TODAY fans fondly remember the days when Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb hosted their segment together. However, Jenna Bush Hager also bring a lot of fun and flavor to the show.
“How does it feel for you, five years?” Hoda asked Jenna on Monday’s episode.
“It feels like it was yesterday, and it feels so profound to get to sit next to somebody that exudes joy no matter what you have going on,” Jenna replied. “You greet me with a smile every single day, and I know it’s not always easy. In fact, it’s probably not easy at all. But you’re here and you sit next to me.”

“There’s such a deep understanding of the other’s soul and purpose, we have traveled down these roads together,” Hoda continued. “A lot of times, friendships don’t grow. They are: you talk about the old days. Not ours.”
She went on to say how she feels like she and Jenna were meant to be cohostesses together.
