Adam Sandler has been making audiences laugh for decades. Depending on who you ask, some viewers like his films from the 90s more than anything he has done in the 2000s or beyond, and vice-versa. Wherever you fall on that debate, there’s no denying that Adam Sandler has consistently put out solid films for his entire career.
One of Sandler’s classic films is Happy Gilmore. Originally released in 1996, Happy Gilmore tells the story of a former hockey player who makes the switch to golf. Happy Gilmore was one of Sandler’s big hits, so, it makes sense that fans have been demanding a sequel.
The Cat Is Out Of The Bag For Happy Gilmore 2
Recently, actor Christopher McDonald, who played the original film’s antagonist, Shooter McGavin, let the cat out of the bag that a sequel was in development. That got the ball rolling, leading Adam Sandler to later confirm that they are officially working on a sequel.
During a guest appearance on The Dan Patrick Show to talk about the sequel’s status, Adam Sandler said: “We’re working on it.” Sandler went on to say that they’ve “got a million ideas already,” and that “Netflix is excited about it.”
Adam Sandler signed an incredibly lucrative deal with Netflix in 2020 worth a reported $250M. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films for the streaming giant, and Happy Gilmore 2 already has a home on the platform whenever production finishes.

Adam Sandler Wants Another Famous Face In Sequel, Who?
The late Bob Barker was in the first film, and the iconic The Price Is Right host had a memorable role in it. According to Sandler, he wants to get Drew Carey in Happy Gilmore 2. Drew Carey is the current host of The Price Is Right.
Getting Drew Carey in a similar role would be a full-circle moment for the first film and its sequel, as well as being a small way to honor Bob Barker as well. Sandler said when speaking of the sequel: “I would love Drew Carey to be in this movie out of respect to Bob,” he said.
Whoever Adam Sandler gets to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, most movie-goers are content with the fact that the sequel is confirmed, and that there will be a continuation of the story that started more than 30 years ago.
