‘The Voice’: When Will Show Return With New Performances?

The live performances on American Idol / YouTube

On The Voice this week, there were no new performances for the singers in Season 25. This disappointed many fans wanting to see the new singers move on through the competition. Instead, the show was mostly a best-of compilation. The good news for fans is that the new singers are returning soon.

Here is when The Voice is returning to the new singers competing in Season 25.

When Is The Voice Back With New Performances?

This week, fans tuned in to The Voice and didn’t get any new singers competing on the episode. After the Blind Auditions and Battle Rounds of Season 25, the episode on April 1 had no new performances. This wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke. It was instead a look at the season’s best performances of the season as a catch-up for the fans.

The good news is that this is just a one-episode deal and the new singers will be back next week for the Knockouts Round. The first round of the Knockouts Round will be on Monday, April 8 (via NBC). This is also a month with only one episode each week instead of playing out over two nights. The Voice airs every Monday night through April 29 at 8/7c.

That will change in May. On May 6, the format will change to the twice-a-week airings. This is also when the Live Shows begin. Once these shows start airing, it will be on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC. The Live Shows are also when audiences at home can start actively participating and the second night’s show each week will have the eliminations.

What Will Happen When The Voice Returns?

When The Voice returns to the air on April 8, there will be a new Mega Mentor for the contestants. Keith Urban joins the show on that day and offers his wisdom to the singers vying to move on to the next rounds in the competition.

“I love being able to try and help an artist navigate some things they’ve got to work on and try and be constructive and helpful but also do it in a supportive way,” Urban explained (via American Songwriter). Urban has a lot of experience in reality singing competition shows. He coached The Voice in Australia and worked on American Idol as a judge.

The Knockouts Round pairs artists against one of their teammates as decided by the coach. They choose the songs they perform and the coach chooses which one they keep. The other artist goes home – unless another judge steals them after the elimination. The Knockouts last four weeks and then the Live Shows start after that.
