‘Mama June’ Fans Revolted By WeTV Storyline, Branded As Grifters
Mama June: Family Crisis found critics because viewers think that WeTV gives June Shannon’s family a platform, and they allege they are “grifters.” Additionally, they mock the drama about Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s cash crisis ahead of college.
Mama June Shannon And Her Family Get Slammed A Lot
It can be argued that fans are too harsh on June Shannon and her kids. After all, her daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell passed away after a fight with terminal cancer. However, complaints about the cast are not new. The current season shares a lot about Alana going to college, which is worthy of praise, but her mom’s attitude seems to annoy WeTV viewers.
Mama June’s daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Alana Thomspon often drop deep hints on social media that they struggle for cash. Additionally, they get slammed for treating their fans badly. Often, their live streams end up peppered with bad language. Still, some people do send them cash. The criticism now extends to WeTV as well because the network shows scenes of their cash crisis.

June Shannon Allegedly Grifts Through WeTV Cameras?
When Alana turned her thoughts to college, her mom didn’t seem thrilled. Instead, she insisted that her daughter wasn’t ready to move away. Obviously, that irritated viewers because her mom didn’t care about that when she ran off and blew a fortune on drugs with Geno Doak. Next, came money problems. June Shannon seemed reluctant to throw some cash into Alana’s education. So, Pumpkin and Josh Efird will have to try and help.
On Reddit, a viewer expressed an opinion on the drama about cash on Mama June: Family Crisis. Shortly before college started, they urgently needed more money. The OP wrote:
Grifting storyline…..No mother on this planet, not even June would deny her child money for college claiming it’s tough love. This storyline is revolting by design, to get random people/fans to send money to Alana for her tuition. WeTV…you are as bad as news nation with providing platforms for grifters. It’s sickening..frfr!!🙄🙄🙄
The Discussion About Sending Money To June’s Family
In the comments, people joined in on the alleged ‘grifting” discussion as it angered more fans. Here are some opinions and observations:
- Why are there so many ignorant people falling for this grift?
- It’s not tough love June can’t part with the money. her nails hair and food bill and keeping Splendabear around ain’t cheap. I mean she has to order two meals at every restaurant just for herself. Now she needs $36000 for a tooth get the f__k outta here with that storyline.
- They knew what kind of costs they were facing long before. It’s just another thing for production to make a storyline out of, they think the viewers are dumb and don’t know how this stuff works.
- And yet there are people believing their sh-tty storyline and feeling bad for poor honey boo boo she needs money🙄…
-
Honestly, I don’t think Alana or any of these people are smart enough to budget the money they are receiving from social media and the sale of the c–p, to make sure school and everything is paid.
