There’s no denying that Trent Johnston and Amber Johnston run a tight ship in the family household. They have a lot of strict rules when it comes to things like dating, lifestyle choices, and more. There’s certainly nothing wrong with instilling certain values in your children. However, it gets extra tricky now that all of Amber and Trent’s children are adults.
There’s always a fine line between letting your children experience things and figure things out for themselves versus clamping down tighter with what you believe is best based on more life experience. The way a lot of 7 Little Johnstons fans see it, Amber and Trent need to ease up on the reins a little.
TLC Parents Accused Of Playing Favorites
One of the things that 7 Little Johnstons fans have called out for years is Amber Johnston’s treatment of Anna Johnston. Viewers have accused Amber of always trying to one-up Anna and compete with her own daughter. Many fans agree that Anna gets the short end of the stick in the family.
Another thing that 7 Little Johnstons fans have accused Trent and Amber of is coddling their youngest son, Alex Johnston. Amber and Trent have had no problem laying down the law with Jonah, particularly after his experience with Delta 8.
However, the way a lot of viewers see it, they do the opposite with Alex, coddling and babying him in ways that they don’t do with their other children. Consistency is certainly lacking in that they are overly controlling with some children and lax with others.

Recently, fans took issue with Trent and Amber suggesting that Jonah move in with Liz now that she is broken up with Brice in current scenes. The way a lot of viewers see it, they just want to pass Jonah off and make him Liz’s responsibility. Many viewers see ulterior motives with this suggestion, like making Jonah someone else’s problem.
