Nickelodeon Stars Break Silence In ‘Quiet On Set’ Docuseries
Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV is shining a light on the toxic work environment at Nickelodeon studios during the 90s and early 2000s. Former child stars are coming forward to share their horror stories about working on some of the most popular children’s shows of the time. Ariana Grande, Drake Bell, and Jamie Spears are just a few of the people who are speaking up about their experiences. Keep reading to see what the docuseries will expose and how you can watch it.
What Is Quiet On Set About?
The docuseries is being aired on Investigation Discovery and takes a look at Dan Schneider’s reign at Nickelodeon. He famously helped create, write, and produce some of the most successful kid’s shows at the time, including All That, Drake & Josh, iCarly, Sam & Cat, The Amanda Show, Victorious, and Zoey 101.
After Schnieder was confronted with rumors of inappropriate behavior, he left the network in 2018. He has denied all allegations. Many of his projects led to the explosive careers of people like Ariana Grande, Miranda Cosgrove, Amanda Bynes, Jamie Lynn Spears, Drake Bell, and Josh Peck. However, not everyone who worked with Nickelodeon at the time had a good experience. In fact, there was a much darker side to the television productions that fans weren’t seeing.

Before the release of Quiet On Set, a spokesperson for Schnieder provided a statement. It read, “Dan cared about the kids on his shows even when sometimes their own families unfortunately did not. He understood what they were going through and he was their biggest champion. The fact is many of the kids on these shows are put in the untenable position of becoming the breadwinner for their family and the pressure that comes along with that.”
The statement continued, “Add on top of that the difficulties of growing up and having to do so under the spotlight while working a demanding job, all as a child. That is why there are many levels of standards, executives, lawyers, teachers and parents everywhere, all the time, on every set, every day. However, it is still a hard place to be a kid and nobody knew that better than Dan.”
