Before Richard Simmons was known for being a recluse that hid away from everyone, he was quite active in television and in the movies. On television, he made countless appearances on a variety of different shows. He was on General Hospital at the same time as the Luke and Laura story was getting started way back in 1980. Simmons returned to General Hospital in 2013. He was also on All My Children as well as Arrested Development. America’s beloved health and fitness expert appeared with Burt Reynolds and Marilu Henner in “Evening Shade.” He even had his own talk show.
Richard Simmons was also in movies. He appeared with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt in What Women Want. He also did voice work for Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie.
Something Changed About Richard Simmons
Suddenly, Richard Simmons stopped being the Richard Simmons everyone loves. He stopped teaching his exercise classes. He was never seen in public. Richard Simmons had disappeared.
Fans speculated if Richard Simmons was being held as some sort of a hostage by a caregiver. They were scared for his safety and his health. Thankfully, it turned out the health and fitness guru was okay. Simmons had simply stepped out of the limelight.

The quirky Richard Simmons is, once again, scaring his fans. His latest Facebook post has his fans and followers wondering if he is actually dying.
“I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad. I am ….dying. Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death,” Richard Simmons posted. “Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day. Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”
The post continued with tips and tricks about living a healthier lifestyle. He mentioned eating a “healthy breakfast” such as oatmeal. Simmons went on suggest a “nice salad” for lunch. He continued with “And sure, once in a while, have dessert. One healthy day of eating will lead to the next…and the next.”
Fans React To His Post
Richard Simmons fans quickly reacted to his post. At the time of publication, about four hours after he made this cryptic post, there were thousands of emoji reactions and over 1,000 comments. The post had been shared hundred of times.
“This post makes me sad! I can’t imagine living in a world that you are no longer in,” one Facebook user commented. “You make the world a better place. There is no one like you. Just know when the times comes you will be deeply missed. I will take all of your advice. You just remember you lived a beautiful life in your terms.”
