Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan was replaced on the morning talk show by another co-host on Monday. His absence comes after Robin Roberts was gone for several days back-to-back. Given recent news about his daughter’s cancer diagnosis, many fans are wondering if Michael Strahan will be back on GMA any time soon. Continue reading to find out.

Michael Strahan Shares That He Is ‘Scared Sh*tless’

GMA co-host Rebecca Jarvis sat in for Michael Strahan on Monday. She hosted the morning talk show alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. Typically, Michael’s absence on Monday wouldn’t raise any eyebrows. For several months, he has been MIA on Mondays due to his obligation with the NFL network.

However, the football season came to an end last month. So, his absence this Monday is a mystery to viewers. The GMA co-host posted a video to Instagram sharing that he was spending time with his daughters, Sophia and Isabella, over the weekend though.

The Good Morning America star shared that he felt more comfortable driving rather than being a passenger with his daughters. He captioned the post, “I just figured out I don’t like being driven around by my kids.  Scared sh*tless LOL.”

Michael Strahan has been spending more time with his daughters in the midst of his daughter’s battle with cancer. Isabella, whom Michael refers to as Bella, underwent her second brain surgery recently.

Isabella Strahan’s Public Battle With Cancer

Her first brain surgery was an emergency procedure performed in October 2023. Isabella had only received her cancer diagnosis a few days prior and needed surgery due to a complication with her first round of chemotherapy.

The GMA star’s daughter shared her experience with her second brain surgery on her YouTube channel. “I’m actually very nervous. I’m more nervous for this one because it’s not like my brain that they’re messing with, it’s not as deep… but I’m curious as to what recovery would look like,” she said in the video. “I’m not excited…at all. I’m actually kind of nervous.”

Later, the clip showed Michael Strahan’s daughter in the hospital after the procedure was completed. With her head wrapped in bandages, she talked to the camera about her experience and pain levels.

“I’m in so much pain…and this sucks. I was in so much pain earlier, I was like screaming. This is not fun,” Isabella told viewers. “Hopefully this is what was causing all my fevers and why I’ve been in the hospital for a week. So hopefully I will get to go home soon after I heal from this. But I don’t feel my best.”

Isabella shared details about her diagnosis of medulloblastoma alongside her dad, Michael Strahan, on Good Morning America in January.

Although there is no news of Michael planning to leave the show, viewers should expect more absences in the coming weeks and months. It is likely the GMA co-host will be taking more time out to be with his daughters during this time.
