Cheryl Burke was a pro dancer on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars for an astounding 26 seasons. She announced her departure from the franchise in 2022. She had a lot of notable celebrities during her time on the dance floor, including Wayne Newton and Rob Kardashian.

Cheryl won two Mirrorball trophies – one with singer Drew Lachey and another with NFL vet Emmitt Smith.

But it turns out one of her most notorious celebrity partners never made it to TV. She dropped the tidbit on a recent episode of her podcast. Several years ago, there was a rumor online that actor Charlie Sheen was joining Dancing With The Stars. It turns out the rumor was true.

“Fun fact: I danced with Charlie for one day,” she spilled about the well-known actor. She was tasked with training him. She recounted asking, “‘Are you sure?’ Because if I’m trying to convince someone to do the show, I might not be the person. Because I hate lying. I just don’t want to lie [about] how the process is.”

“It’s beautiful, but it’s freakin’ a lot of work,” she added about the reality dance competition. In addition to performing live in front of millions of viewers, contestants do tons of press and interviews.

Was it all too much for Charlie Sheen? Us Weekly notes that he was struggling with substance abuse issues at the time, something Cheryl Burke related to.

“I’m sober now for almost six years and I just had a lot of compassion for him. He seemed so cool. We had so much fun,” she said on the podcast.

The pro dancer taught the actor “a few steps,” but he decided not to do the show. However, she had nothing but kind words to say about the embattled actor. “He was just really sweet and kind and humble,” she gushed.

His Ex-Wife Denise Richards Chimes In

Cheryl Burke’s podcast guest was none other than Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Denise Richards. The RHOBH alum was married to him for four years. She also has personal experience with how hard DWTS is. She joined the dance competition for Season 8. Denise was partnered with popular pro dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy, but they were quickly eliminated.

Charlie Sheen’s ex wasn’t surprised that he bailed on the show. “He doesn’t like to work out,” she quipped.
