‘Jeopardy’ Comeback Queen’s Win Slips Through Her Fingers

Sadly, Jeopardy! fans witnessed a tragic loss from a fan favorite during the Tournament of Champions. As the tournament progressed, the comeback queen, Juveria Zaheer had a tough break.

Jeopardy!‘s Fan Favorite Meets A Sad Fate

In the 40th season of Jeopardy!, Juveria Zaheer has met the same fate as Cris and Hannah. Although Juveria has ran the show with her amazing comebacks during this season, she was overthrown in the latest episode by fellow competitor, Luigi de Guzman. In the episode, she went head to head with three-day champ, Kevin Belle, from Silver Spring, Maryland, and five-day champ Luigi, from Arlington, Virginia.

Juveria Zaheer Puts Up A Big Fight

But Juveria Zaheer won the heart of Jeopardy! fans. Not only did she fight her way through Second Chance tournament but she also took the Champions Wildcard before joining the Tournament of Champions. Following the Jeopardy! round, fans had high hopes as she jumped to $9000 on a True Daily Double. While entering the Double Jeopardy! round, Luigi had $1,600, Kevin $2,200, and Juveria was set up nicely with $11,400. However, the tides changed in the True Daily Doubles. During a fight to win Luigi captures both Daily Doubles. Notably, it advances him to $20,000 shooting him to the leading position. But Juveria didn’t stop fighting.

Juveria Zaheer Goes Through A Tense Final Jeopardy! Round

When the Final Jeopardy! round began, Juveria Zaheer squeeked by with the lead even after Luigi de Guzman landed the bonuses. Notably, Ken Jennings commented, that Juveria had “just enough to keep the lead.” However, the category “WORLD TRAVEL” was a bit more tricky than expected. Kevin Belle answers incorrectly,”Eerorail” but had a $0 wager. And Luigi claims the correct answer with “Eurostar” which sends his total to $43,999. After the first two contestants revealed their responses, everyone was watching Juveria with intensity to see her guess. When her screen was shown the viewers hearts dropped. She had written “The Chunnel” and sadly wagered $21,000. Sadly, she wasn’t able to comeback in this episode. Afterward, Luigi is now a semifinalist with the highest total yet.

  1. No we were happy to see Luigi win! Zuvaria should not even have advanced that far as the competition she won by default had one Canadian category plus 2 other questions which were Canadian. This was not fair to the other 2 contestants! The match was slated in her favor! Very unfair!!!
